Congrats. Nice looking car. Especially for the money. Well bought. I may be interested in your "awful badges" (my girlfriend asks "whats wrong with people/me" all the time as well) and BBS wheels if you want to unload them. I will send you a PM. Congrats again on the sweet deal.
The wheels are 16". Haven't taken them off yet to get exact size. I am just west of Boston, the car was bought from the Providence area.
Haha! You want the awful badges? So much for sticking them on the tools box. And as far as the wheels, it appears they are wanted by a bunch of people.. A little shocked. I just want stock looking wheels in 16 inches. Maybe a horse trade or something?
Those BBS wheels are gorgeous! I considered myself very fortunate to buy a set last year, 16" with gold centres, for my 84 QV (but I'm keeping the original 16s too). The BBS are quite a bit lighter, also magnesium (centre section), and have a classic Euro look - the 15" version was fitted to the very first 308 road tested by Road & Track in 1975, and I've loved the look of them on the 308 ever since.
I agree, I have a black set of BBS 16's that came with my car and in my opinion they look wonderful on the car.
I am looking for 17" BBS so I'm out on the wheels but please PM me back about your tool box trash badges. LOL
$23K...Uh...Ok...I believe you... We usually don't talk about what we paid for a car because if it's too low, we don't believe you...if it's too high, you're considered a sucker, but since I paid $17,500 for mine 6 months ago, it's all good
If that 308 runs, and doesn't blow oil...... you got a helluva deal !! BTW, your Porsches are going to hate their new garage mate, and will start acting up in defiance ! German sportscars and Italian sportcars do not get along ! I used to have an Audi UrQ that consistently refused to start whenever I left it parked next to any of my Ferraris......I suspect it was either jealously or bad mojo left over from the WWII Hitler-Mussolini doublecross !
17k wow. Yeah this car blows no oil and runs great. The dealership went over it for previous owner. Everything came back fine as they only did a waterpump. $17000 ouch... So the wheels...what are they worth???
Also, just Google a Ferrari 308 on Clist for 23k in R.I. It will pop up. He had no details on ad, not even mileage. I called him and begged and screwed down there. Lucky he was a man of his word. Initially told me people were coming on Thursday, and this was Monday. I said fine I will get in line. Called him back he later and said "look you are going to get hammered with calls, I am Local and will come look now and no games." He listened to my Vm and called right back. I am sure there are a few pissed off people. Oh well. In my chair in garage just having a bev and looking at it. Ha.
check the cap Ill bet its cracked. There's quite a few threads here about swaping them, Its worth a look. If its cracked get the stant radiator cap.
Don't forget to date code those tires!!!! This is commonly overlooked when buying - but I thought I saw a newer hankook logo there? The wheels are BBS E50. If I am correct they are a 7 or 7.5" width. They were a dealer option for some. They are still made today. You can completely adjust your rim size (you can go 17"), width and offset by buying new lips and barrels. I like the silver center with the black car - looks good! It also looks like you have the correct bolts on there - don't lose those! They center the rim and I believe are hard to find. I have had them on my car since '77.
That's a great looking car!.........................But: I'm so glad I live in the UK where we don't have those park bench bumpers front and rear! - They seriously detract from the 308 GTB/GTS' delicate, elegant design. (The rear bumper looks especially huge in those pictures!) As I say, otherwise it's a great looking car and I hope you get immense pleasure from it!
Wow. You are a champion bargain hunter! Personally, I am thrilled when I hear of someone buying a 308 in MY price range. Because of climbing values, I was about to cross 308 ownership off my bucket list and stick to my Fiat's, but you've renewed my hope!
