All I know at the moment is that both Bleu Metallizzato and Bleu Thaiti were used during 1973 to 1978... for the Espada, Countach and Countach S.

I couldn't find Oro Sahara before LP400 #1120278 (1977) since the rest of my archives are not with me at the moment.

This is an interesting topic! More updates during summer from my side... ;)
    Keep up the good work!

You are right on both those counts, but what I was trying to (humorously) say is that Lamborghini of that era was known for random application of names (in some instances) and ad hoc re-naming of the same thing for a different year or model. Ferrari of that era did the same thing also.

We mixed the Oro sahara paint codes several times in different ways and sprayed them out in order to match the original paint that was found under sills and around the window frames and other spots.
Photos always seem to make it look yellow.

Sure Joe there may be some truth in this. Nevertheless I believe a worthwhile subject deserves a serious approach. It is simply too easy to dismiss the actions of the factory as random when the matter has not been fully explored and particularly so for a period in its history when pragmatism was necessary for survival.

That aside, this topic has helped resolve another matter.

Until now I had thought that 40066 had been repainted in the "wrong" gold, using 40010 the Oro met Convoy car as a bench mark. Now it would seem that it is the "right" Oro Sahara colour according to the Silhouette/Countach colour charts.

I was there and saw this car in person. A very stunning car with 2 tone interior. Color looked better in person. He bought the car just for this event and was for sale at 60k. Which was a surprisingly high price......at the time :)
Took a while before it finally sold.

Hi all, For many years I have been wondering about the chassis number of the white/blue Countach that was here in Holland during the 1980's. I think was most probably #1121368, but not sure. A car with Swiss lights. All I know is that the car was exported from Holland to the USA around 1985. That was my first Countach I sat in ! Would love to see a picture of that car how it looks now, and if somebody perhaps could confirm that info.
After some searching on google I read that the car was offered on eBay in september 2010.
    Anybody? Ciao! Marcel

I believe I looked at and drove this car back in February 2003.
At the time it was in the Richmond Virginia area and was in rough shape. It had various fluids all over the undercarriage and look worn out.
The seller insisted he had just spent $50,000.00 dollars on repairs to it, however it didn't look like a wrench was turned on it for several years.
In my opinion it looked like it would take $70,000.00 dollars to restore it at that time. I believe the seller wanted something like $65,000.00 for it.

Thanks Vic, but I think we have news for the white/blue ex-Holland Countach, I just was informed by Kevin that I overlooked one other possibility: #1121416, another car destined for CH, white with blue interior. Here is a picture that Kevin sent me, from 1998, when the car was offered at Cruse International. The same mirrors, the same white rims, CH lights, I would say this looks exactly like the one!! Grazie Mille Kevin! Would be nice to have that confirmed from the USA some day...

Yes I think I may have mistaken the car you posted with the white and blue that I looked at. I found a poor quality photo of the one I looked at and drove in 2003 and it has different mirrors along with rear side markers.

    Speaking of white/blue Countach's....

Whatever happened to this white 5000QV DD with the blu/white interior that was featured prominently in Mr. Pasini's Countach book?

Back in mid 90s ,i looked at a white/blue Countach 2 valve car in Port Richey Florida,(a few miles north of Tampa) the car was basicly offered as a wreck, with years of bing stored outside as such, the seller, a young nice guy, told me it once belonged to a fmous footbll couch,i think Dallas, Texas, it was left in that condition, and at some point my guy bought the car and shipprd it to the place where it sat when i looked at it, i think i offered 25k$ ,but the offer was rejected,do not remember exactely what it would take, but more than i was willing to pay, the car needed everything, glass, body work ,engine overhul nd on nd on,have no info on the vin nmbr, but very interesting being it was white with blue interior, and perhaps traceble being it used to belong to this famous Texas football couch.and wreckwd by the same guy, hope this onfo is to some help,i doubt the car was ever sold for more than my offer, considering the countach value at the time.

    Vic,

I believe this car was later used as a rental.

It then ended up in Florida, and is now white/white, lowered, and with white Bravo wheels, in the Southwest, looking much nicer than when you last saw it.

True, those actions were almost always borne of economic necessity. There is some humor to found in them nonetheless!

I always assumed those images were in Japan. The gold is similar to that of the Silhouette at the top of the page.

#1120032 was ordered by Iranian dealer Sartippour in Teheran and delivered on November 22nd, 1974.
For who? The Shah of Iran? A Royal Family member? Maybe... Maybe not.
The King bought #1120190 through Monaco Motors in June 1976. That's for certain.
He might have sold '0032 afterwards then... Only a wild guess, of course. ;)

About the gold paint Oro Rolls Royce, once again, it is very difficult to get the right shade out of those old, scanned photos...
I think the two first photos from this set are the most honest, yet slightly darker/intense than Oro Metallizzato.

I notice that the SSSA Seaside Motors sticker seen in the first set has been replaced in the last pic...
