Hi there. I wonder if anyone can tell me how many Lusso's were built and if anyone is keeping track of them. Do we know how many are still on the road and how many might have been destroyed or left in a barn somewhere? Does anyone know of any Lusso chassis that might be around for sale? Please forgive me if there is another thread on Fchat already talking about this very subject. If you there is please direct me to that post please.

Thanks that is a great thread. It is truly remarkable how beautiful these cars were shaped and made by the artisans. This car is stunning from multiple angles. When I grow up I will definitely get one.

I used to think that too but now that I am grown up I will never be able to afford one. I hope you are in better shape.

I think I would rather buy a Lusso than a Piccaso. The majesty of Lusso's beauty is there for all to see and comprehend. Piccaso's genius on the otherhand is left up to the eye of the beholder. The painting will hang on a wall or in a safe while the Lusso will take you in style anywhere you want to go. Piccaso also created a lot more paintings than Enzo made the Lusso. I dont think I can ever justify to myself of buying a 10M Ferrari no matter how successful I become but I think I can 'justify' a Lusso. I'll just keep dreaming till that day comes.

For the past 2 years I have been compiling a comprehensive history of all Lusso chassis built. This is now with my web site builders and we hope to launch before the end of the year. To date I number 352........ I chose this medium as mistakes.....and it is inevitable that there will many..... can be corrected.......Unlike previously printed material that is there forever and mistakes often quoted as gospel. It is designed so that each chassis has its own 'page' and there will be an open forum where historic photos can be attached, further information added and incorrect data challenged. No banners, no adds and non profit making.......The idea is that in say 5 years time we will all have a no nonsense reliable data guide to every Lusso.

They're definitely not all around. I saw one when I was 10 years old being sawed in half on its way to the crusher after being parted out. Before anybody asks, I have no clue what the number was.

I have accounted for 3 RHD cars that are sadly no longer with us but I hope the new website will identify other LHD chassis that have been destroyed.......

Does anyone know of a Lusso replica ? Do any exist ? I am aware of several LHD cars that have been converted to RHD but thankfully no recreations........

The lusso is on my list. The real older version of the 550. IMO.

Back in the day, Walt McCune had a 250GTO replica made in Italy. He used a Lusso chassis, as he felt it was the closest to the real thing. So there's one down.

    Hi Paul,

Don't know if I missed it, but were you able to launch by the end of the year? If so, please provide the link.

Didn't Chelle on this site have a GTO replica based on a Lusso chassis? She was in the Chicago area, maybe it's the same one?

She claimed to have a GTO replica that was built using 80% of a Lusso chassis along with the engine and transmission of a 365 GT 2+2. I'm not sure that she ever gave a chassis number or posted any pics of this car, though. I only recall seeing pics of her Datusun-based GTO replica.

Edit: Found these pics which she said show her Lusso-based replica. This is clearly NOT 5319GT (the Walt McCune replica).

I apologize if I took this thread off track into GTO replicas. My thought was to identify which Lusso was the basis for Chelle's car.

6191 clearly. Have no photos of stampings, so could really be based on almost anything. Cheers, Kare

In my humble opinion it is now worth less than either of the cars.
Look at it as a fake GTO or a butchered Lusso.
I have no sympathy for the individual who did this, or ruined the many other
original Ferrari's. Thankfully Lusso's have suffered this fate a lot less than many other Ferrari models.

Hi......No you haven't missed anything.......There have been a few technical issues but the corroboration of individual records has been the most time consuming. Maybe 40% of the information has been updated since my last post. One thing is certain.......A web based media is the only way to do this. Had these records been set to print a few months ago there would have been glaring errors that future generations would accept as fact. As previously stated I accept there will still be some mistakes but with others input these can be easily rectified and updated once confirmed. The aim is to have a 100% pure data base for the future. Please be patient......It will happen.
