The key point in this article is: In Geneva, Sergio Marchionne was asked if there would be a four-door model coming to the brand. After saying "no", he said this: "The cars within the portfolio will change, but the structure of the portfolio will not." I would say there is a lot of room for changes, especially regarding cars with different engines and performance levels inside the portfolio structure. And that Maserati inside FCA will build the four-door sport luxury sedans also in the future is probably obvious to everyone. What a stupid question to SM.
I know, but I do not want to start a collection of ferraris. I had 10 years of fun with the CS and now it's time for a change! May be I will add a CS-Stripe to the yellow 488 - for old times' sake...
I think you are absolutely right. The CS is a great car, but for sure the 488 will be from another planet. And I don't see why a V8 mid-engined Ferrari, having the latest technologies in it, would be any less fun
Not knowing what we know, if you put the 458 and the 488 side-by-side, you would think the 458 is the succeeding car.
Has anyone heard from a reliable source when the 488 convertible is likely to be announced and when deliveries in U.S. might begin? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Just curious, but why do you say that? I personally find the styling of the 488 more contemporary than the cleaner styling of the 458.
From my perspective - I think the 458 looks better. Cleaner lines. I dont care for the intakes. Clearly this is very subjective.
a new design may take time for the eye to understand. Time again will determine how well the designs ages.
Indeed it is. But I was not so much talking about better or worse, which is purely subjective. Saying that the 488 is more contemporary, is not the same as saying it looks better. What I'm saying is, if I look at it as objectively as I can, I think the 488 is the more modern looking car, seeing what kind of sports/supercar styling is "en-vouge" now compared to 5+ years ago. Therefore I don't see how it can be considered a step back. It clearly follows the trend of this type of car getting more complex lines etc.
Strange, I personally think, that the 488 has much, much more cleaner lines, than the 458. I find it more prettier too. But it's all a matter of taste, of course
In my eyes the lines of the 458 are much mor cleaner! The deep and big door handle from the 488 ruins the line in my eyes, the splitter in the intake looks not that nice. I love the 488 from the back! Front look good and side looks not so good. 458 is very clean, love the side and the front but i'm not the biggest fan from the back. So over all, both looks great with some design issues in my eyes. Like the 458 more than the 488 and love the NA engine. But i'm excited to drive the 488!
