I know numbers are hard to come by, but how special is the 458 SA? Will it go into the sunset as the next 575 Superamerica? More desirable? Less?

Good question. How high will the chance be to see one on the road if you're not living in a Ferrari hot-spot? As they are limited production most will spend their lives in heated garages with the battery tender connected.

Production numbers are broadly similar give or take a hundred (approx 650 vs 550) but 458SA might also get used more (like 16M)

If we can compare the SA to the 16M the SA is the last NA, spider, V8, track version in a limited edition of supposedly 499 worldwide. It has many pluses going for it to become an instant "classic".

If you figure that 499 cars will be made of the 458 Speciale Aperta and that the USA will get about 30% of production that equals about 150 cars. And according to Complete list of official Ferrari dealerships there are 39 dealers in USA then the breakdown is about 4 cars per dealer. I was lucky enough to get an allocation for one from my dealer in Miami which is getting 4 and hope to have mine within the next 60 days. Remember that this is the last naturally aspirated V-8 and the last car launched under Montezemolo. Lets say 13,000 total production of all 458 cars models then the 458SA represents about 4% so I would say it's going to be a rare car.

Yesterday my Ferrari dealer in the UK called me and gave me about one hour to say yes or no to a pre colour spec 458 Speciale Aperta. I had ear bashed the dealer when I had missed the cut. At the time the dealer said they had over 50 regular customers who were as disappointed. The car they've offered will be July or September build.

I already have a Speciale from them (in TdF with white Nart). I've no idea where the car came from other than clearly someone has decided not to proceed. I spoke to a specialist outside the F system and he offered me 50,000 GBP immediately if I agree to flip it to him. Which means goodness knows how much more he would add to turn. That's all I needed to know, this car is sizzling hot, and in the UK there will be no more than 50 of them. I've never flipped a car and I'm not starting with this beauty. Not after the day I had yesterday.

Not surprisingly I said yes please, but I've also decided to keep my Speciale. It's just too good.

The Speciale Aperta is going to be milestone car, very limited in numbers and Chris Harris' recent road test report on the Speciale Aperta was outstandingly favourable too, so in the UK I can see it rapidly flying past 500K GBP.

That said, I also think the 458 Speciale coupe is so good that owners will find it impossible to part with, as I've found.

To answer the question the Speciale Aperta is extremely special, on so many levels. What I've found mind-busting in the last 24 hours, is the coupe has a gravitational pull all its own, and about equal to the sun.

Very well put. I believe the Speciale Aperta will be red hot here in the US as well. The last of it's kind.

Is that Argento N? Beautifully done, I really like the silver, red and carbon mix.

Also looks like you've equivalent to half of the UK as your back yard too lol.

You are a lucky dog sir...
My dealer from whom I have bought a few Ferraris told me yesterday that he got a larger allocation for La Ferrari than the Speciale Aperta ...
Last naturally aspirated V8 Spider speciale Aperta - I would give my left nut to get one.

Camlet1, I think you are spot on and congratulations on your new Spider. I agree its a very special car.

NYCone- I wouldn't put the 458 SA in the same discussion as the 575 SA. One is V8 and the other is V12 and Ferrari makes a distinction. I think you could say the 458 SA could go down as the 16M or even more speciale :) for all the reasons listed.

Maadalfa, your car is fantastic. Argento/Rosso interior is classic. Congratulations!!
