Hello, I love the sweet 2.0ltre V8 sound and the optic of the 308 GT4... The 16rims and the 4 flute exhaust...But the interieur in black is still stylish. For driving fast I have other cars... I have all the original things for making it an original 208 GT4 with the 14rims and the one flute exhaust thats it...For original freaks all is in case but for me it have to look like an 308 and sound like mine ;-)...The car was from the first owner and is one of the last build in 1980...so for me it is perfect...
Mine is Red Boxer/Red S/N 10520...I've had it for almost 34 years...no pics to post yet, it's coming back for the dead (again) now...the engine does run now again, and it's been modified many years ago with hicomp forged Arias 10.5/1 pistons, MSD drag racing electronics with single distributor electronic ignition, silicon bronze valve guides, other valve train work, sealed bearing in engine, rejetted webers, "euro" exhaust, newer wheels etc. Before it was modified (a long time ago now) I drove it from the left coast to the Midwest and back several times, getting an average of 2 tickets a time I think...also, BION I was getting about 20mpg at 100mph cruising speed, as I remember...and so, like a lot of the rest of you, I suppose, I have some OK (old man) stories about my trips etc.... Edit: As per my profile it's a 1975 308 GT4, and a US version made in March 1975....
OK...(you asked for it)...here's the only story I've actually written up...(back in the days when 300 baud dial-up BBS action was where it was at).... Land Shark ---------- Several times in the last 10 years I have driven my Dino almost straight through from the West Coast to Chicago. (One time I almost fell asleep at the wheel somewhere in Iowa - so I don't think I'm crazy enough to do it again.) Anyway, on one trip I was cruising when the road was fairly deserted and came upon a strange scene. Some young punk on a Honda 750 was terrorizing this old white haired lady in a Dodge Dart somewhere on Route 80. What he was doing was pulling behind her car and speeding up to get her to speed up, and then pulling in front of her car and slowing down to get her to slow down - this poor lady was caught in the middle. Takes all kinds huh. This dude was a big tall studdly guy with long blond hair - probably a real lady killer (hehe) - but I could tell that he didn't know how to ride worth ****, because of how he was leaning his body on the bike as he maneuvered. I guess one of the reasons he was doing this to that poor old lady, was because he had a "captive" audience and was showing how well he could ride!?! I'll never forget how his body looked from behind when he saw my land shark materialize in his rear view out of the fog. My guess was that his first reaction was to grab the throttle and kick ass out of there. But his second reaction was to turn to stone - he knew he'd been had. I'm sure he didn't know what was cruising at him in the rear view, but Ferraris can carry a certain "Karma" along with them. When I kicked it down from fifth to third for some engine braking and to bring it on the pipes for possible assault mode - he immediately pulled off the road and into the ditch on the side of the highway, like he ran out of gas. Maybe he could hear the sound of my engine sending him a message through the crisp morning air - Or maybe he caught a quick glimpse of the small yellow rectangular medallion replete with black prancing horse mounted on the nose of the Dino - I don't know. Anyway, I was just smiling the whole time - he was a obviously a punk with **** for brains - and I did have 3500 pounds of blood red over black ready to shoot the moon - besides I still had about 1000 miles to go. I made a slight mistake in describing my car...I implied that the interior was Red...but I actually meant that the carpets are Red, while the seats etc. are Black...sorry about that..... I usually blame all such occurrences of "mistakes"...err I really meant to say "miscommunication"...on having a "senior moment"...(or of course on my wife, or maybe even the kids when I can etc.)....

Well...like I said...I've owned my 75 Dino 308 since 1981...and I did a few cross country trips, (up to 3000 miles one way on one trip), in the early 80's. So a few more stories...and so it's time for you to bail out now if you don't think you'll like my stories.... Well first on tickets, I averaged about 2 per trip...luckily in those days I don't think the computers, (if they used them at all), were linked together...so if you didn't get a ticket in your home state it was usually just a matter of paying up. So, I was heading east out of Portland to Chicago, somewhere in the boon docks in OrEgon, where the highway was divided in the center with a barrier, and the exits were maybe 10 miles apart...or even more. So I'm tooling along and I see a cop car go by in the other direction...no big deal I think, the last exit in his direction was maybe 15 miles back...but wouldn't you know it, he went all the way to that exit, turned around and came back and got me with a speeding ticket. Well you know what they say about red cars and tickets, anyway I pictured him back in the locker room at the cop shop bragging to his buddies about how he got a red Ferrari today etc. Well so in Chicago I'm working on a project, and I forget all about the ticket...and then one day I see it in my wallet, and like the court date was maybe yesterday, or even worse last week, I forget now. So I call the number on the ticket, and it maps to some really tiny town in the middle of nowhere in Sasquatch country in Ore, and I think it was early afternoon there, and I hear: How's it goin' eh...what's up eh...you got me up, I was sleepin' on the bench eh... So I explained and apologised and he said...no problem eh, just send it in now eh, I'm the judge here and you're all OK, have a great day eh.... Then in Illinois I got stopped for speeding on the Superslab, and after finding all my current papers in the trunk, in a suitcase...the officer told me...The judge has said the we should bring all speeding violators now into the station. Well I doubt that was true, but I was a hippy looking guy, and made they thought I stole the car or whatever...anyway what could I do...I followed them to the station...and sat in the room with wooden tables and benches by myself for quite a while, and then they eventually came out gave me the ticket, and I left.... In Wyoming once, on the freeway, in a really deserted section, a state trooper was sitting on the road in the other direction, and when he saw me go by...(geez I think the speed limit was indeed 55 then, I'm not sure now)...I watched him in my rearview 180 his car and negotiate the big ditch that divided the road bouncing his car several times and stirring up dust...and then take off after me like I was maybe a mass murderer that was gonna flee or whatever, fishtailing his car as he got it going in my direction etc. Quite a show and almost worth the price of admission right there. Anyway it got even more Smokey and the Bandit like after that, he had the right uniform and hat, walked and talked like he was a Western Marshall, gave me the ticket and said I should slow down etc.... Anyway after that the road did look to me really really (really) deserted, so I decided to see what the top speed of the Dino was...In the really dense cold air, I was pulling over 7700rpm and the spedo indicated a hair over 150mph...(I'm not sure how fast I was really going)...but then, the Dino suspension is really stiff, and as I was slowing down, I think, I hit a dip/bump in the road and it lifted the rear wheels of the Dino momentarily off the ground and the engine growled as the revs shot up, until the wheels came down again...end of speed runs on public roads for me.... Finally...not ticket related...did you ever spin your car...I mean really spin it...well if you race, you probably have, but maybe not on public roads...well you know what they say about first rains and road conditions. So in Chicago after a first rain, I had a buddy in the car, and rounding a corner I stepped on it toooo much and on the wet oily slick road surface and I went around well over 360 degs before being off the side of the road on the nice wide Chicago shoulders...lucky me, no cars around just then and no damage done to anything at all(!!!)...wait now, is the Dino 308 mid or rear engined???...anyway I was more careful after that, believe me.... And for all you kids out there...never ever try any of these things yourself etc. etc. etc....

Am I the only GT4 owner here that has one of these...(sorry for the bad pics)??? When I grew up in Chicago, (home of the original Grease musical/movie I believe), if you said *anything* bad about Elvis, you probably got your azz kicked by the local Greasers... Well anyway, I was never that much of an Elvis fan until I found out he owned a Dino 308.... Notice on the back of the box pic, the 3 Ferraris in the collection...thank you Elvis, wherever you may be appearing today.
