With my interior door panels off to work on window motors, I noticed my speakers look rather shot to hell. I'm not sure I trust taking my car to a local car audio place to screw around with wiring new things up, taking off trim, etc. Anyone know the spec on these if I just try to go out a and pick up a new set to wire in?

Or have a recommendation for a good (preferably "plug and play") replacement?

    Thanks.

Good morning - I suspect someone with more knowledge will be along soon but in the meanwhile I might suggest taking it out and to your local audio shop and ask them what the best replacement would be. Hard to guess but from the photo it might be a 5 1/4"

Well, the original speakers for the 328 are still available when ordered from the spare parts catalogue, so perhaps these are available too? And/or perhaps these are the same? Those for the 328 were, and are, made by "Autosonik" and are Ferrari reference 61835200.
But, unless you really are a stickler for OEM parts (conceled behind the carpets in that case) now that you have openend the panels and reached the speakers, why not replace these by modern speakers with a better sound?
(It depends of course if you actually use the radio/head unit or not; I never did up to this day in my 328 GTB while driving, only for a try, in seven years of ownership, and I never even put the amovible faceplate in place in the 328 GTS...)

IIRC, they are the standard 5 1/4" size as Josh indicated, but the depth is restricted by structure in the door -- maybe 2" deep maximum or so.

For my '79 GTS, I ordered a pair from Amazon for 27 bucks and they were plug and play.
    Pioneer TS-G1321i 13cm 2-way coaxial.
Only exception is that the plastic half-circle liner behind them didn't fit... but that's nothing.

Yeah, this is not an item I care too much about being OEM; the sound wasn't great to begin with. Detroiter, the model # you suggest isn't made any more. Pioneer makes several that seem to fit, but your specs are 2-way, and most of the new ones are 4-way or 5-way. Anyone know if that makes a difference?

Also, is there a max wattage based on how it's connected to the fuse box?

    Thanks.

I also have a '79 GTS and I replace mine, which looked like yours, with a new pair of Alpine SPS-510s (5 1/4"). I left the plastic mounting in place but I did have to cut out a little more for the magnet to fit through. Perfect fit and decent sound. Just search on Google and then pick your favorite retailer.

What about wattage? I'm seeing specs from 110 to 250 for this size door speaker. Is there a limit to what our electrical systems can handle?

That number is the maximum wattage the speaker can handle. Anything is fine for speakers connected to your radio without an external amp.
You could worry about sensitivity to get max possible volume.

Thanks very much for clarifying, Don; makes perfect sense.
