yea that's pretty common I get a lot of request for TDF blue Gated 6MT its just so rare to find.
Question... how does this deal sound? 2000 - TDF blue/darker tan interior manual tranny with 22k miles on it. Tranny was rebuilt due to syncro issues in first and sec gear (I think) - done by independent shop, Believe a belt service was done recently, two new front tires, AC compressor rebuild, new tie rods on left side. Oem exhaust, non-power seats, no shields. Ask is $70k... Some work done at Ferrari dealer, some at the indy to save money after seeing the F-dealer estimate. From what I can tell there's been roughly $17 in recent servicing on it. Fair price considering the color and manual tranny if a PPI checks out? My only concern is the tranny...
I'm not sure about that deal I just sold a 2001 360 coupe in rosso F1 trans 22k for $79,000 that was fully serviced by us since we are a Ferrari dealer as well. From what we get in and out a lot and the vast majority of clients we interact with service records from a reputable facility is the make or break of any deal with exotics. I would be careful especially with someone as major as rebuilding a tranny in one of these.
There is a premium (and not sure how long this will last) between manual and F1 trans cars. I was at Algar Ferrari yesterday and they had just obtained a 2004 360 Coupe, red with black interior, daytonas, 6 speed manual with around 11K miles and they are asking $104K for it.
You are absolutely correct Alxlee, the average that we are seeing around us is about $10,000-$15,000 difference between an F1 car versus a gated 6MT car. I believe it is just due to the rarity of a gated 6MT car versus a F1 car and possibly the slightly easier ownership experience.
This is why I'm thinking in spite of it all, this looks like a pretty decent deal. This car was online a while ago but the listing disappeared and while the owner does get back to me with my questions answered, he doesn't seem super motivated to move the car, but is incentivizing moving it with a low price point. Ferrari of Tampa did the belt service and created a $30k estimate with everything that needed to be addressed, the owner is seems just went the indy route to cut the cost in half.
Here's video of the actual work being done... or at least removal of it. http://www.teamtransmissions.com/ Owner says they've been doing more exotic work down that way. I have no idea if it's true or not, and have not made an effort to contact Ferrari of Tampa or Team Transmissions to discuss said car yet either.
Ehhh I'm not sure buddy that's a tough one. Are you local to them it says they have a 12 month 12 warranty for local customers. That could be some peace of mind for you I guess, but I'm not sure how I'd honestly feel about it. If something like that came in on trade to us with that type of history or lack there of we wouldn't give him anything either honestly. We had a very clean yellow one that sat here for MONTHS because it has zero records available.
I'm letting it sit right now. I learned it's wise not to rush a purchase like this. If it passes a PPI I honestly don't see a lot of financial downside to this car owning it for a few years. Pretty much everything major has been done it seems. The records I have in hand for the last couple years are substantial for what was addressed, he dumped some coin into it for sure.
if you plan to hold onto it for a few years I don't see an issue with it just be careful for resale on it later due to the tranny. that in it self will scare a lot of buyers just like it has yourself. a PPI is always a great idea either way especially if you can get it to a Ferrari service center.
New Listing at Ferrari of New England. 2004 Coupe. Red over beige with 12,800 miles. Listed at $99,900. Listing is only 2 days old so no pics and no idea on options. But if anyone wants to give them a call and beat the rush, go for it. http://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=398638093&LNX=MYATCALERTSEMLSRCH
Wow that one seems very aggressively priced compared to what I've been seeing lately. Low miles and newer by 2 years with a lower asking price then a lot of 2000's?
As is typical for a dealership to not send a car to another location without compensation, yes, I bought that car. Last month I was visiting Ferrari of Houston, and another customer there for other business saw my car and commented on the "rareness" of a three-pedal transmission with the color combo (black-black coupe) of the car. He made an unsolicited offer on the spot because he is looking for a manual-shift Modena. I almost accepted, but because at that time I had the car for only one month, I declined. If and when I upgrade to an Italia and if he is still interested, I know where to begin. He offered me a bit more than what I paid for it from Cauley Ferrari.
You mean this one? 2001, manual stick shift, all owner books, service records since day one, flawless paint, perfect CarFax report, zero seat wear, all original, 17k miles. Image Unavailable, Please Login
No affiliation with this car but people are always looking for Manual Trans 360s. I personally love the color combo. Is the owner on Fchat? Currently listed on Miami Craigslist but I also posted it on my blog: Domestic Imports
This is the same car on eBay plus another classic Red/Tan with about the same mileage. Ferrari 360 Modena | eBay Ferrari 360 6 Speed 3 Pedal Manual Transmission | eBay
Wheelman...when are you going to stop thinking about buying a car and start actually buying one? Paralysis by analysis.
Some do this.. they either like the idea of shopping for a Ferrari and the idea of owning one is better than the actual article or they find some little tidbit that's "wrong" or "could be wrong" with the car and talk themselves out of it. It goes on for years. Some eventually get a car, some always talk about how they "almost bought one" and drive their Cayman thinking its similar somehow. I'll be out driving mine tomorrow morning with a huge grin on my face. More reliable than I'd hoped, still the same fun as day I first bought her. Except now I really feel that I know her and feel at home behind the wheel. Once they realize what they're missing out on.. they regret not indulging sooner.
Another titanium over bordeaux manual trans Modena posted on SFBay craigslist. No affiliation with the car but it sure looks nice. Put a link to it on my website: 360 Modena Link
