Myself, and a few others, knew Kimi would pan-out eventually. We also knew Alonso had to go for it to happen. It was said a year ago. Kimi and Allison are the pair that turned Ferrari around, from a technical standpoint. Now, with Vettel aboard, it's only a matter of time until the next WCC.

There are a lot of Kimi haters out there, for some reason. But, he was e last Ferrari WDC and is leading the change for Ferrari's next WCC. What's not to like?

+1. Applies specifically to the chap below.
Some praise for his superb performance might be too much to ask from you I suppose.

Ferrari left him a couple laps too late in the first stint which cost him 6+ seconds, which he clawed back whilst on the slower tire. At that time he was beating Rosberg + Vettel and I think matching Hamilton.

He would've beaten Vettel regardless of whether he went off or not, and he was catching Rosberg at such a rate he had a damn good chance at beating him too. It was made easier by the failing brakes, which started the moment he could make a move.

Yeah, we are. :) Oh, the other SF? Scuderia Ferrari, I know. You know it used to be our (Finns) national sign, SF = Suomi - Finland, now it's FIN so no more confusion, I hope! :D

    Go Kimi, go!

Kimi has done well this season and deserves another year. Just not sure if 15mill or whatever is being quoted is the right price. Then again ferrari like to overpay for drivers (paid a lot for vettel)

You mean how Kimi performed last year when things were actually tough ??

Some people really only seem to have a short term memory.

It's only fair that Ferrari wait till a bit further into the season to watch how he performs.

Definitely wait to see from a business perspective, but his driving this year has been amazing already. I think it will become more amazing as he learns the car and Ferrari figures out his pace.

So excited to have him on the team personally and hope to see him win soon.

I haven't forgotten about last year. Actually I remember it pretty well: Ferrari car down 50-60hp on Mercedes. Do you remember that? Car set up for Alonso's driving style, do you remember that? Ferrari engines catching on fire, do you remember that? I believe Kimi did the best he could under the circumstances. But, here is the bottom line: Nico Rosberg wines more now than Kimi did last year, or ever will. Kimi is a true Champion. He put on a brave face and "sucked it up". He trusted that Ferrari would turn it around, and it has. His professionalism in light of last year's debacle, which I place firmly on Ferrari's shoulders (notice many of the key players don't work there anymore?) was a true testament to his character. Carry on Kimi. I've got your back.

IMO, he remains one of the fastest natural talents out there right now.

You may not like his 'iceman' persona (I do ;)), but he's a team player, never whines and just gets on with it.

    Cheers,
    Ian

He was under tremendous pressure last year, getting beaten constantly in such a high profile team and such a highly anticipated battle is not easy. Getting the same questions every weekend, many times over from every where you go...And not a negative peep from him. Kept his cool, aimed for 2015 and it's all good.

This is an often repeated but completely incorrect myth that Kimi supporters keep trying to use.

AGAIN, the suspension design of the 2015 Ferrari is the SAME as the 2014 car. The ONLY change has been that they have improved the stiffness of some components in the front suspension because it was found to flex.

This is from James Allison who actually knows the car!

The improvements to the 2015 car come from engine/PU drivability (how the power comes in, cooling improvements improving power, recharging of the battery now completes per lap) and aerodynamics. Again all from James.

But by all means keep spreading Alonso hating BS ... Big flipping sigh

Pete, you are wrong about the front suspension. While it remains a pull-rod style, there have been several revisions to the geometry that completely change the behavior of the car. You can even search this forum for more details.

Not according to the man who is responsible for the design of the car.

Again I'll believe James before any cr@p posted on this site:
He has said extremely clearly where the improvements come from but some of here think they know more than the man in charge of the Ferrari F1 car design and continue to post cr@p. Quite ****** ridiculous

    Again
Next we will see mere FerrariChat posters submitting drawings like they are actually important in the Ferrari F1 team and James Allison I guess must not work there.

The pull rod set up is the same but the lower wishbone is now a single conjoined design, a la MB.

Kimi is at Ferrari most likely because there was a change of management. We all use the 'same' equipment argument w/ LH vs FA at Mclaren. Applies here.

Kimi in the same car was buried by FA. FA 2 & team-mates 0. My position is Kimi and Vettel are closely matched.

    Agree.

Would be extremely interesting to see what times Alonso or for that matter Toil and Ricardo would do in the 2015 Ferrari

Given how much Monaco is a parade vs a race - they should do just that there and find some way to make the race one for charity etc. Id love an event where we could see what other drivers could do in different teams' cars. Never happen of course.
