Hello! Here is the scenario for next week. Until I find a nice set of used 19" wheels, I am going to change up my current HRE's. I have a local shop that will be applying a few coats of plastidip on them next week. They would like to do one wheel and tire a day until completed. I have a floor jack, but I was wondering if there would be any harm in having each corner up in the air for 24hours? Assuming the jack does not bleed also! Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

why only one wheel per day? I've Plasti Dipped plenty of wheels and it's definitely a day job. Even if you only do one wheel at a time.

I used to be a hydraulic mechanic. I don't trust a jack for nothing.

The can and do bleed off so Jack it up and put a jack stand under that biotch.
Most jacks come eith two Jack stands so do one side at a time if you must.

Plasti dipping all 4 wheels takes no longer then a few hours max and is extremely easy to do at home but even if you go with a shop its a quick jo, and as mentioned above you can just use jack stands without issues.

This. I won't work under a car with just a jack under it anymore. I had a 1981 corolla lower itself on my chest once.

Yep, doesn't take long at all. Buy a pack of index cards to line the wheel with and go to town.

Make sure you degrease your wheels before shooting them.

I used 1 can per wheel. Probably over doing it, but my eyes were playing tricks on me. :)

Are you doing a flat or semi gloss? I didn't use any clear on mine.... but they aren't flat.

I can always use reminders! They say lay it on thick if you want to be able to peel it off without a powerwasher or a grinder! Also picked up a couple cans of glossifier. You know to make them all shiny and blingy! Ha! Thanks Eric!

Those turned out great! Well done! But I have to ask, how did you handle the rivets? Mine are sunk into the wheel, just adding to the fun! Ha!

I unscrewed each screw before painting. Huge pain in the ass, but that was the only option.

Oh trust me, after the first wheel I was cussing myself for removing them all. I got the exhaust installed 2 weekends ago. Sounds good! I have a buddy with some pro recording equipment that's supposed to make some recordings/videos sometime. I just need to schedule it.

Another thing I learned. Don't remove the rear bumper when doing your exhaust. Completely unnecessary and a waste of time. Once you remove the air boxes, everything is totally accessible.

Depends on the size of the exhaust I suppose? I couldn't get my Challenge exhaust out from the top (the tips were too wide to fit past the rear frame and you couldn't twist it as the bumper was in the way). Don't think the stock exhaust would come out or Capristo would go in from the top either.

I thought that's what you meant when you said it's a waste of time to remove the bumper.

No room to drop the exhaust out the bottom with the bumper in place. (no room between bumper and clutch cover)
