87 930...there is no substitute.
I have a 79 SC Widebody running the 3.2 L engine and my "blown" Mondy as well as a few others but yes I do drive a 911 more than my Mondy to be honest
It seems w/ the replies I got from fellow Mondial owners it seems the majority also drive an aircooled Porsche. For me the reason is that I like sports cars and the 930 is my favorite Porsche. How about you fellow 911 drivers what's your reason for having a Ferrari & Porsche at the same time ?
I came close a few times almost bought a 79 930 but it didn't come with any history so I passed on it. Also almost bought a 73.5 911 they wanted 8k for it and I offered 7k but got outbid and yeah I know believe me! I think currently the only affordable air cooled 911's are 964's and mid seventies 911's

My dad had a '69 "Forest Green" Karmann Ghia. Too bad he let it rust away. By the time I got it , there wasn't enough left worth restoring.
Sold my 85 euro Mondial QV recently. Still have the last of the air cooled 95 Porsche 993 and had a 2001 E39 M5 BMW. Great stable while it lasted.
I have an 89 911 Turbo as well ( baltic blue / Linen ) .. and an 88 M5. collecting all the cars i wanted from high school/college.. also have a 88 328 GTS and a 89 928s4 and 86 MB 560 SL. Just need a Testarossa and i take take a rest.. would love a lotus esprit - but possibly the world's most unreliable car!
76 914 2.0 w/ a 5 speed trans from a 69 911. 84 BMW 318i in near perfect condition that just broke 100K miles. 5 speed, black w/ red leather.
I had two Turbo Esprits, an '84 and a '95 S4. Both were very reliable and the S4 had 300HP. Much faster than my Mondi or a 308 Dino. And only 4 cylinders.
Aircooled VWs are one of the best learning tools for people wanting to get into vintage car restoration. They are simple, easy to work on, fairly robust, and parts are plentiful. And, they are going up in value. Your Dad's 69 would be worth (in drivers condition) somewhere between 5 and 12K. Book values for my 67 CV - in condition 1 - are 27K High, 18K average. They are fun cars to work on. Lots of fun, and because they are so simple, very little risk of "hosing" something up. Sid
Here are a couple of bad iphone pics of my '86... It's not a Mondial, but it is fun to drive. 2cam Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thats a nice car you got there w/ the period alpina wheels. My 635 CSI euro has alpina wheels mounted also.
