I don't think it is a true CSL. Doesn't look like it has the trunk. But if it's not a CSL, it's a GREAT looking CSL rep!
Roma thanks for sharing. You have a great garage and a great taste. Only a F40 missing there eheheheh.
Yes, I saw later in a post. Also a Lusso. Two different but wonderfull cars. F40 for me, after 250 GT Califórnia SWB, the most beautifull, great, wonderfull and piece of art Ferrari made. Good times with the new Huayra.
Which off your cars i the most fun to drive? i know hard question. greatest ferrari i have driven is the scuderia... just becuase it's so pure.
You are asking me which one of my kids I prefer. They are all special. I would say most raw driver - 430 scud best vintage experience - 250 tdf most beautiful - 275 gtb4 best supercar - 288 gto loudest - 360 CS best stick GT - 575M best F1 GT - F12 most iconic - F40 most elegant - 250 lusso best "I wanted this car since I was 12 years old" car - 308 GTB most exotic - Pagani Huayra best "go to dinner with the wife in the summer and have 2 chardonnays and drive home with the top down" - 991 Porsche C2 cab
Thanks for sharing your collection, Mark. It's awesome to get some insight and see them all sitting next to each other. Keep enjoying them!
Awesome quick review Roma Taking delivery of 16m soon, and I'm after that raw Ferrari experience. Great collection FS
love the testarossa but if I'm doing anything I'd be selling not buying, am running out of space and the DB5 and the TdF aren't even back yet.
Yes was thinking the same, don't have much that's new on the phone ... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Sorry I thought I would get told off for writing not posting pictures! So here is the answer. They are both fantastic and I really mean that. If you look at numbers, 288 is 2,560 pounds and 400 hp with 366 lb/ft 308 is 2,310 pounds and 255 hp with, actually I can't find a torque figure, I'm sure someone will know. It's maybe hard to think of these cars as being very similar because the market values them so differently, with the 288 probably worth over 10 times a 308 VR and yes I know there are lots of differences but I'm going to say that the 308 is 80% of the experience of a GTO. Actually the 308 has no turbo lag so the power delivery is more linear and predicable and the crescendo is steadier. I was about to say the power delivery is more satisfying but that's not really true. They are both great. It's hard to not be satisfied as the GTO approaches the red line rapidly and you have to get ready to quickly get into the next gear! The gearboxes feel very similar, both grumpy when cold, especially second gear and both satisfying and smooth when warm. I think both cars are beautiful, with the 308 having cleaner, elegant and more feminine lines and the GTO being more masculine, more aggressive. The GTO is a jewel though, tons of little elegant details that you never tire of looking at. It's on my to do list to count the number of vents in the car, on the engine cover particularly. The GTO is fantastic, but today I walked past it and got in the 308 and never questioned my decision. They are both great but when you drive them back to back they both have the same soul, the same vintage feel, they are both special and they are both beautiful. I stand by my earlier comment that the 308 VR is 80% of a 288 GTO. I think that sums it up. This is a pic of the 308 today when I stopped for lunch. Image Unavailable, Please Login
thanks! so maybe a good analogy would be a base 911 Carrera vs a turbo S...you know they're the same car in many ways, but there's enough difference to give them very distinct personalities?
I think that's a good analogy. However the turbos don't interfere as much on the Ferraris, the GTO sounds great and the turbo just changes the type of power delivery. In the Porsche however, the fairly raw and direct base experience is totally muffled by the turbos, at least it was in the 993 when I owned ("in period") both a C2 and a turbo.
