I don't know how you were brought up but I was brought up to have respect for other peoples property!

Looking at the size of this BMX rider, he's not some 4 or 5year old who doesn't really know right from wrong, he obviously knows that riding over this car causing damage to it (no matter how minor the damage may be), is wrong and thinks he is being clever!

Based on your post, I assume that if you were to come out of your house and find some drunken students standing on the roof of your car slowly caving it in then you'd simply join in with their fun and laugh your socks off whilst saying: "Hey! - Kids will be kids!"?

There's a big difference between laughing at someone's accidental misfortune that is brought on by themselves (usually due to their own stupidity!), and laughing at a deliberate act of criminal damage to someone else's property!

Would you laugh at seeing footage of someone deliberately setting fire to some else's home if you knew no one got hurt in the fire?

Would you laugh about your neighbour being burgled if you knew that they had not been hurt during the robbery?

If you can't tell that there's a difference then I seriously think that you need to re-examine the standards that you live your life by!

I'm old school, so an eye for an eye; Lambo's turn to "bunny hop" the Bmxer.

Ah yes, the element of "intent."

He'd testify he never intended to damage the car; his intent was to jump it without touching it.

Sort of like parkour, but with wheels instead of Nikes.

Definitely no need, be assured. I took a look at the New Testament a few decades ago and found some things worthwhile considering. ;)

P.S.: I tend to disapprove extrajudicial mob action (also called lynch justice). I am sure that the persons offering and chosing the option "hire a hit man" or minor other acts of self justice are just making fun. Äh, am I really sure?

P.P.S.: You might consider informing yourself about the talion principle and why this is since long not followed any more.

    Further
    @ 4rePhill

From your answer I must also conclude, that you indeed do laugh looking at accidents, where people hurt themselves (by stupidity). I laugh in neither situation, as you might have understood from my post, but apparently refuse to do. I in fact hate these "ooops" shows.

based on one of the articles, it seems that the owner was pretty relaxed about the whole thing, however this kid needs to be punished to be a lesson to others. its unacceptable, downright bs.....EVEN if the car wasnt severely damaged.

you cant just use someone elses car for your own benefit

I would have chosen the first one, but I do not know what "Nothing - your rich" means.

If it was "Nothing - you are rich", then I would have a choice to make.

    ................. :)

    Uhm... sure...

Intent can be determined by the anticipated outcome and actions. He took a bike and jumped up onto the top of the car and rode down it. This was all purely intentional for any rationale person (he even recorded the action). It was obvious to anyone that damage would likely result from the force of 150+ pounds impacting the roof and hood. It is also obvious that damage would likely result from the tires themselves. He could also ascertain that this was no ordinary car, which is why he setup a camera to record himself jumping onto a lamborghini. So he could even foresee and understand the likely outcome of his actions as causing significant damage.

He can testify whatever he wants... this was clearly an intentional act and significant damage is a very easy to foresee as a consequence. I think we can argue easily that he intended to jump the bike onto a very very expensive car. I think we can argue easily that the natural consequence of that action is some sort of paint damage to that car. Combine these two concepts and you have intent to damage the paint of the car...

Just have a look at this.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM50vlNbVIs

mobile.de is the mayor German, if not European, platform for selling cars (!!!). And this male "model" walks on cars in the TV advert running on all mayor TV stations at least a few times every evening. He is a "good" guy obviously, talking about environment, being hip, etc. The business and media guys also educate our young people, they make the messages. For example that a hip guy needs to walk on cars.

They have several similar adverts. Always is this guy walking on cars. All kinds of cars. Since years.

THAT is quite annoying for me. A lot more than a guy, who just also wants to be hip (although he should know better, actually).

I'd be willing to bet he won't be convicted of a felony.

Oh, they might charge felony, which would surprise me, but whatever the charge, it'll be pleaded down.

If his record's clean he'll get diversion.

I hope he meets some unidentified Sicilian zips one late evening, and they teach him the true meaning of being cuckolded, which is essentially what he tried to impose on the lambo owner. They can then find him with the forks of his bike stuck up his arse

I agree with this. But what he did falls under a felony category. What (if anything) gets prosecuted is a completely different story given politics and liberal sympathies...

    Portland IS liberal.

But plea bargaining offenses occurs nationwide, regardless of the political makeup of the locals.

Cops routinely overcharge, it's part of The Game.

There are simply too many criminal cases pending at any time to have all or even most of theme go to trial: not enough time, not enough judges.

Without plea bargaining the criminal justice system would implode.

I hope that this poll is not representative. 54% claim to execute extrajudicial violence action. 46% thereof want to execute a criminal assault. A total of 8% claim to go the way of lethal assasination.

I really hope that all of these 54% just take a great mouthful here. Virtual internet "heros" actually and in real life rather look-aways.....

Well, let's look at it this way. If someone smashed your car, in front of you, and you simply punched or shoved the guy and restrained him... it is going to be unlikely to get charged and prosecuted.

The question is, if you restrained him, and he fought back, you can defend yourself in turn in most areas.

I think the poll questions are a bit extreme of course... I mean, if taken literally, he would need to have some nasal congestion to actually beat the snot out of him. If we take it as that means chasing the guy and potentially getting into a fist fight with the *****, then I think that is pretty reasonable given the circumstances, especially if you are going to restrain him to call the cops.

The police can't do anything, unfortunately there is not enough evidence.

    1) He is clearly shown on the video.
    2) He posted all of social media and admitted doing it.

I see quite a few gang guys that look like they've been doing steroids for too long driving Lambo's around town. I wonder if they'd be so forgiving if this guy did that to their car? This guy really deserves to do this to the wrong guy.

If he has admitted to doing it, then he's screwed. The video alone would not be enough.
