95 GTB for $50k? Sign me up. There is room in the garage next to the GTS. Seriously, I want prices to crater again so I can buy a nice GTB for for the price of a Hyundai.

 

Lots of garage space here too but I don't expect to see any nice ones at that price.

I've got 2 95 GTBs. Not a chance I'm getting rid of one of them anywhere near the prices you mentioned above.

Market minupilation attempts exist in both sides of the isle. Seems that those who say cars aren't worth X, Y or Z eventually out themselves as "being in the market".

Id bet that car will be sold by the end of the week. It is my understanding that they already have an offer at 106k.

 

Ive been saying for a decade that the 95 2.7 is the car to have. Maybe I'm just an intuitive or maybe its because I often talk to top factory Ferrari mechanics that know these cars from the day they were in on the design of them. But don't just get caught up in the 355B and GTS rises....Look at the Testas, carb 308 and 328s.....They are all moving as well as some 60s and 70 chevys. Its where the money is. For those that say they will buy one when prices come back down, I wish them good luck. They will not come back down. The 355s I mentioned are getting rarer every day. One of the other reasons that anything previous to 360s are going up is because Ferrari is being pressured to mass produce its cars even more than they have been in the last 3 models. Im not the only one that has put his money on it. I know many that have bought 2nd and 3rd Ferraris in the past few years. Just remember that 355s are not as plentiful as they were 10 years ago. As for the valve guides.....thats a joke for many a collector as they spend 4 times that just to repaint their cars.

 

Not always. There are many many examples of earlier cars being worth more. Just off the top of my head... Which is worth more?

A 76 308 or an 83?
A 75 930 Carrera turbo or an 86?
A 85 TR or a 91?

 

Well there are about 100,000 to choose from just in the last two months alone I'm sort of with you though in that I don't quite understand the sudden run up in some car values lately. CGT, 355, Countach, etc... all nice cars but suddenly doubling in price? I bet the guys who paid over a million for F40s back in the mid 90s thought they could never go down, until they plummeted to about $300k. Could happen again, maybe not. Hard to tell but one thing I can say is that people claiming these will never go down again might want to think about that.

 

The best Ferrari design is around 308/328/348/355 .... from 360 the line of the car is a 'modern' sport car ... it is hard to see the original lines that made Ferrari a Ferrari

360 is relative cheap, but I will not trade it for any of the previous 3xx

 

If you specifically want a 95, you have to understand availability in the US is limited. Its not impossible to find it, but also think about all the people looking for one. If a sellers comes out and asks $50k, he will most likely be bombarded with higher offers and not settle for less. The actual selling price points will rise regardless of what asking prices are.

A 355 is a nostalgic Ferrari with high potential performance. It is different from the modern high techy Ferraris which are abundant in the market place.

 

$106K offer? Where did you hear that....absolutely not true. They told me $90K would buy it now.

There is definitely a handful of users on FChat that are trying to manipulate the market.

That said, the prices are definitely on the rise. Arguing against that fact doesn't make any sense.

Supply and demand applies to all cars and collectibles. The 355 is a great car and it's getting cheaper to maintain them. As technology progresses the aftermarket will continue to develop affordable solutions to common problems for this mass produced car. In my opinion, this is going to make them more and more desirable as time passes.

There is so much going for the 355...whether it is an F1 or a gated car. I personally believe the Berlinetta's will always command the highest price, although the F1 GTS is the rarest. (Not including Challenge and Fiorano's).

I personally am just happy that I get to enjoy driving one. I'll probably buy other Ferrari's at some point, but I highly doubt I'll ever sell the 355. It's a unique car in Ferrari's history that will never be replicated. It's also the first automobile with an F1 transmission. I've driven modern F1/PDK/SMG transmissions and there's something about the "archaic" and ancient technology in the 355's system that makes it more enjoyable to drive.

All my yapping aside, if you're buying a Ferrari and are even slightly worried about resale, you probably shouldn't be buying one the first place.

 

I agree. The new F1 type trannies are so fast and effortless that they get boring, IMHO.

 

Why a 95 vs a 98-99 355b? Why makes the M2.7 more or less desirable than the later M5.2? I miss my 98 355b, had it for six years and would like to buy another b at some point.
