I agree. I really like this car and cannot wait to see one on the road. Pictures do not do justice too some cars. I have not owned/driven one of the big three since 1980 but Ford is is making it difficult with this vehicle and the new RS (sorry ).
just saw the r at the ny show and was little disappointed. despite the good blue color and stripes, carbon fiber all over, it seemed cheapish. not sure why seemed that way to me. couldn't tell the wheels were cf either. wish they had a sound track of the flat plane crank. that might have changed my mind. the seats seemed pretty crazy almost like true racing seat. btw, gt40 is most amazing car I have ever seen in person. even wilder than napolis p4/5 creations. hard to imagine seeing it on the road, esp from the rear. focus rs cool too. ford has it going on
I agree it does look somehow cheapish. The Camro always seemed a happier design. I think the mustang seems to sit tall and the dash materials, well its rental car nice. But that motor, its going to be over 600hp, NA motor, and 7.32 nubering offical time now, thats pretty damm quick, GTr time, and a rwd na stick car. The rep did attribut a big chunk of time reduction to the low unsprung weight. The new Gt, to me the worst angle was the rear, although i understad the reasons for ii. the rest pure car porn.
Yes sir the Ford GT is amazing not only in person but on the road. I followed one back in '07 or '08 from Houston out to Hennessey for a gathering and it is amazing. It seems Ford is finally paying attention to their US car customers and not just their truck customers, about damn time! Kudos Ford for not stagnating the iconic Mustang and for bringing a vehicle (Focus RS) to the USA that was longed for for decades.
Spidey was referiing tot he new Ford Gt which is a TTV6 and was at the show. A realling inetresting and fresh design. While the mustand and Focus Rs are indeed appealing, beyond that for mainstream cars whetehr its ford mazda Gm Vw etc, they appear to be much of a muchness.
Hmm . . . only 37 of the GT350R's to be made for 2015 model year. Can't imagine what the mark up will be for the few that make it into public hands Ford Shelby GT350, GT350R Mustang to Have Limited Production for 2015
ridiculous. i would rather a vette, gtr, 911, etc than pay penny over sticker for one. well, thats only since im not a collector. might make sense if want to make it an investment
I've been asking my dealer about a '15 R. They haven't been told yet how they will be allotted. I wish Ford would do a lottery and offer winners a unit at sticker price. I understand there won't be a deal on these, but I resent being gouged. At least with a lottery, allotments would be random. It might build back some good will with customers that remember what dealers were doing when the GT500 came out.
Rumor and speculation but, Starting at $52,900 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Option Pricing: Tech Package: $7,500 Track Package: $6,500 Navigation: $795 Black Roof: $695 Triple Yellow Paint: $495 Over-The-Top Stripes: $475 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350RR package adds $3,500, plus the following options: SVT Touring Package: $3,000 Navigation: $795 Black Roof: $695 Over-The-Top Stripes: $475
I thought so too. C&D have reported that rather than GT350R being a a separate model it is an option code which forces you into the Track pack first. If so that means $10,000 over the base model. An argument can be made for the other interpretation. Several creature comforts are deleted. Same engine in both models. But ultimately track pack adds the Magnaride, carbon brakes, trans/oil/diff coolers, carbon wheels, Cup tires, etc. that stuff costs a lot more than AC compressor and radio! Nobody really knows for sure. But I think $10k up charge for the R sounds likely. 2015 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Option Pricing Leaked ?*News ? Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
The only problem I see with this car is the same problem that I see with the Z28: A Garden variety Corvette C7 Z51 beats both with less than 3k track prep mods. They are at simalar price points...and with gouging, the Mustang will be an 80k + car while the Vette can be had for under 70.
