I called Mike at the beginning of the season when the cars were coming out and asked him if he had his service done and he said not yet, was going to drop if off the following weekend. I said forget it, bring it over to my place and we will do it ourselves. Well last night we got started, put about 5 hours in. Going back at it this after noon and hopefully will have the engine on the floor by tonight. Here are a few pics. Thx to the most detailed post I have ever seen for DYI by Ernie. That has so far been a very big help and time saver.

Thx guys, Ernie, your write up on this was so detailed. I am comfortable doing this work and have been for over 20 years but you took all the guest work out and made this go much faster/smoother. We are going to try to wrap up the belts this weekend and get the car back in Sunday! I leave you guys with a better pic of my Gallardo in the driveway.

Thanks for the acknowledgment and I'm glad to know it helped. You are good friend for helping out Mike. He was so worried he would have to drop $6k to have the engine out done. But now he doesn't have to worry about that anymore thanks to you.

The top left square you highlighted is an add on jack to the lift, that fits in between the rails. It is $900

The bottom right square that you highlighted is just a floor jack that pumps up with your foot.

I just want to say thank you to Chris Copper and his crew for helping do this job.

I know Ernie mentioned that I was worried about the cost of this, but actually that is not the case, I am not afraid to throw any amount of money at this car to get it right. I had this car just about ready to go to a very reputable shop in Toronto, but my wife was diagnosed with something just a few short weeks ago that changed everything.

Ernie was a massive help as I called him non stop on this. His thread was one of the primary reasons we were able to pull this off. We will post more on this later, but right now we need to just relax and spend some time with our families. It was a great experience, and all the pros involved were very happy with how this job went. We learned a lot, but the main thing we learned is that an engine out on a 348 is not that difficult. It just takes time, patience, and the will to do it.

Thank you so much. We are actually in London, not GTA.

That protective plastic is to protect floors / furniture when doing restoration jobs in homes that have been flooded or have fire damage. It has a sticky side and sticks right on, but leaves no adhesive whatsoever, more like a suran wrap but a little more stickier. It was Chris's idea and worked out quite well. We wrapped the bumper in it too when we took it off and stored it away during the job.

For those interested here is the 4 post lift thread
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/426154-355-engine-out-service-w-4-post.html

I had a few advantages that made it slightly easier such as the rail jack for my lift that is fully adjustable and my motorcycle lift that was used to support the engine/cradle.

I was glad to help Mike out, he was very interested and asked lots of questions and I am really glad he jumped in feet first with me and my guys. There is no doubt he understands so much more about his car now, especially being right there to watch every bolt torqued, parts changed, connections done and adjustments made. For now the car runs and drives beautifully! See you back in 3 or 30 buddy!

That is just carpet mask for home construction, can probably get it anywhere. Sticks nicely to the car so no scratches etc
