For the price of these (2699CAN) it is a must have. I could never not have it. In the summer I keep my car under and use it to store quads, sled and other stuff I dont use on a regular basis, in the winter my car goes up, safe and out of the way. I use it to work on all my vehicles including my Gallardo and Land Rover, friends vehicles, fluid changes and everyday work is just so much easier. It can be used to lift and engine up and out of a car or like the 348 with body off (little trickier). There are many brands but I am very happy with this one from Lift Superstore in Oakville Ontario. Mine is an 8000lbs lift, they also have a 9000lb lift that is slightly wider, longer and taller. I choose not to buy that because my ramps don't store between the rails (i have steel set and aluminum set) and I like being able to fill the underside with the 4 ramps and 4 oil pans/tool tray which completely closes the bottom in so stuff can be stored up. The only advantage I saw with the wider 9000lb lift if you can park and SUV under it where mine you can not. Hope that helps. They are just too cheap to not have one.

Also I build my house with the lift in mind so I have 16' ceilings in my garage but you could make it work with 10-11' ceilings, you just may not be able to put the lift at full height with a car on it. You also need to extend your garage door tracks up as high as you can to the ceiling and change from a traditional center opener to a jack-shaft opener.
