Yes Mark, the red car in the period pics is 0895GT, which the woman in these pics sold to Snider.

I think we're slowing down and losing it. It took a whole 48 hours to go from to OP posting pictures of a car, with no vin, provided by an acquaintance/patient from 1974 or earlier to having the current owner posting :D

    Regards,

    Art S.

Hmmm, tough choice to convert back to closed headlights. I guess made easier for you by the previous effort. What type of headlights are Classiche converting it to? Since it last left the factory with open headlights?

Restoration is back to exactly how it was delivered in March 1958 with the correct closed headlights and since I have a colour film taken by the first owner of the car coming out of the factory in 1958 it has been possible to do that with 100% accuracy, including the original colour combination. I'm excited for the car to be finished. It's in the very final stages now.

Not very tought after someone converted to closed headlights already in 2005-06, making it look totally wrong.

Open headlights were mandated in 1968 in the United States. Referance the Jaguar E-type. The TDF was modified prior to this requirement and it would have been exempt since it was produced prior to the law being put into effect.

I feel I have done my part as the current custodian of this piece of Ferrari history.

Here is a picture of 0895gt now that it completed and classiched at the Factory. It is identical to period pictures and colour film I have of it leaving the factory. This pic was taken in the courtyard of DK Engineering on the way back to the USA a few weeks ago.

I have done several hundred miles on the car already and WOW...

I was at Glen's house in Cupertino the day after he brought the car home. This was in either late July 1975 or early August 1975. After changing the plugs, gas, and fiddling with the fuel pump, Glen managed to get it running. Glen told us that there was a connection with Phil Hill. I don't know if that is true or not. That is just what Glen told us. This is just one of the pictures I took at Laguna Seca when he raced it. Some people thought that Glen was driving recklessly during the race. That is a matter of opinion. Glen was a very skilled driver, and he knew what he was doing. The race between Glen and Bill Rudd was the greatest race I have ever seen. Yes, racing is dangerous, but if you want a field of competition with total safety, try playing chess.

Thank you so much for posting. Great picture and story. Still enjoying 0895gt tremendously including the epic trip to Maranello when the car was invited for the 70th anniversary. All documented here ...

Maybe I need to find all the pictures that I took at Laguna Seca in 1974 and 1975. Then scan and post them. In 1974, the only people there were car nuts, hippies, and assorted misfits. It wasn't like the circus it is now.
