Well by God then make sure nobody changes a price or makes any changes to a ad. I mean when they post it they mean it. I think there are quite a few people that would possibly sell their car. Where better to test the waters than a forum you are possibly a member of to test the waters. Unless you are 100% for certain buying then don't get on this forum.

Of all the things to gripe about, I would say this ranks pretty low. Just remember, you don't have to click on the thread.

Yes we need some mod intervention, and some rules laid down.

    Yes!!
The "actual" sub forum for a specific car seems to make sense to me.

How many times have you read on the sub forum which type of Ferrari to buy 355 or 360? Which forum should post a 360 for sale on? Sometimes your 360 buyer could also be a 308 or 355 buyer.

If we make threads *****ing about it, then I don't think a "thinking of selling" thread is so bad.

I understand everyone's frustrations about "feeler" posts about selling but I have to agree with Fchat letting them go. Fcars are not like selling a 2012 Accord or even a 2012 M5. So many cars are sold without ever being for sale. I would not doubt that these feeler cars sell months or year later than these posts are created to people who got in contact with the seller initially because of the feeler post.

It is just the nature of buying and selling a low production exotic car. A year ago I would have piled on the complaints but now I just accept that reality is different that my ideology.

I am malleable on this. Just at the moment it seemed like the hem and haw posts belong in the focused group area so they can be talked out of it or whatever may be by those with real experience with the model. Its all good to me but I suspect that if I came to that place where I was thinking about it I might start in the model area and then let those folks give me some real feedback before making ads. Pelican Parts requires a price to post a For Sale listing. Perhaps F Chat should require the same. If you want an auction, go to ebay or an auction house.

What's frustrating is being in the market for a car, someone saying they have one they are thinking of selling, and then having a discussion with said person and when you ask the price they don't give one. I had someone last month tell me they weren't gonna put a price on it, they just wanted offers and if one was at the "top of the market" they would consider selling it. WTF, over? It's not like they were selling a 1962 250 GTO or something.

Well said. I brought this up to Rob several months ago and got nowhere. Threads were in Rossa and Silver.
As great as this site is, all the bantering in the classifieds really does more harm than good.
    Place an ad with:
    Accurate description.
    Title status.
Cars location. (Helps to arrange a PPI).
    VIN.
    Price.
    Contact info.
    Pictures help too.
    :)

So I am guilty of posting to a thread, but I thought it needed to be said. Cheers.

Adding this required info would remove the ambiguity of any Ferrari for sale. Although I support this 110%, I realize the banter brings traffic here and that is never a bad thing for a website owner.

I've suggested to the mods &Rob that minimal data (price, VIN, Contact Info) is what the Ferrari Market Letter have required to post a Ferrari For Sale and FML is considered the most serious trading place for Ferraris.
FerrariChat could EASILY eclipse FML as the place to go for buying/selling a Ferrari, but a few things need to be fine tuned.

    FERRARICHAT AD INTEGRITY FAIL

    Frustrating!
Once trading partners get d*cked around, what is your resulting impression of FerrariChat ads?
Has it wasted your time to no end or is it a serious place to do business?
Has your impression of the ads on FerrariChatbeen bolstered or do you now question the integrity of what you find for sale here?

If only one thing that should be posted, it should be price. But, not my site and im a guest in anothers sandbox. If I dont like it I can go elsewhere. At the end of the day its not like we are scrapping for food and water on the black market. These are first world issues haha.

This is a community. I've received wonderful, personal feedback each time I've considered selling a ferrari. The banter is helpful, and in my opinion in the spirit of the forum. Anyone *****ing over this really should be fine sticking to cars.com, autotrader, dupont, fml. Why the hell are you in "here" complaining about the classifieds?

I just bought a 348 Serie Speciale from a dealer. The car was priced way above market. Of course, it's difficult to assess what "market" is when there are only 115 examples out there, but Ferrarichat was invaluable in that three of these semi-unicorns were sold on FChat in the past eight months. Referencing these ads (through links sent to the dealer) helped us very quickly cut through what would otherwise have been weeks of negotiations, and settle at a market-appropriate price.

Yes, I can definitely see FChat and FML working in tandem, augmented by Hagerty's valuation charts (which seem to be good for about 5 minutes after they're posted, then fall behind for the remainder of the quarter.)

This "thinking about...." is for the type of person who's afraid of what his/her car might be worth...it's a sign of a fear of rejection.
