Nice! Those guys carry a lot of inventory! is that an F40 and a 512 in the showroom? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yes, that's the car ... They have a great inventory on any given day but just scored a whole collection from down in Florida ... the car I bought was part of it, and if the others are in similar condition, a good time to pounce ... they had a 308, couple 328s, Testarossas, 360s, Californias ... too many to count, 13 or 14 cars, they are just starting to work through them. It was hard to see in the garage where they were all stored temporarily but the 430 I bought pretty much looked brand new. They put the red 512bb right on the showroom floor and man did it look good! And, looking again at the CarFax and AutoCheck report, seems to be a one-owner car, or at least the Florida title # has been the same since new. It was at a dealer down south a few hundred miles ago (consigned maybe) but never got a new title.
Congratulations! Beautiful car! I would agree on the pricing. 6MTs have been going up in value and here in NorCal, asking prices have been in the $145 to $150 range with transactions closing around $135K.. F1s are less. Be sure that the potentially horrifying headers are checked, and ask the dealership to disassemble the shift linkage, replace the bushing with a $70 Hill Engineering piece (instead of the stock plastic novelty item), and lubricate with synthetic grease-- your original grease has turned to stone by now. That's why the shifting wasn't what you expected. Enjoy!
Congratulations! You made the best possible move, you bought the car you wanted and probably the best example available.
^ ^ ^ Hmmm ... maybe they will give me $200k for the one I just bought, it hasn't even been delivered yet.
It shows that those are becoming harder to find, demand since to be increasing. I guess this is because of the recent manual 599 GTB sale at RM Auctions. The F430 will still remain the last manual mid-engine Ferrari, ever.
I spoke with the seller on the $275k spider. He claims that it commands more than a fixed roof. Does not make sense since more spiders were made, no?
I think since that RM/Sotheby's auction, where that '07 599GTB manual went for $682K, it changed 3-pedal 430 owners perception of the value of their car. Probably in the near future we'll routinely see manual 430s go for over $200k, especially late model ones with low miles. And later on possibly much more than that if Ferrari doesn't decide to make anymore cars with manual transmissions. It may not get as high as manual 599s,since it's a much rarer car, but I only see manual 430s appreciating in value over the years. After all as someone noted, the 430 is the last of the mid-engine V8s Ferrari made with 3-pedals.
Curious if ferrari started to make 3 pedal cars, why would the 360/430 drop? It's not like they will make more 3 pedal 360/430's... It would be whatever the current model is. Am I not thinking right here?
Very nice car - manuals don't seem to be attracting much of a premium yet in the UK - in fact good 430s in general are in pretty short supply at the moment so all current prices are strong.
these threads remind me of the discussions regarding why the 80s Testarossa was worth trading for 300-500k in the early 90s and skeptical guys then who were pointing out that there had been thousands and thousands sold being shouted down that it was forever appreciating because it was Ferrari's last 12 cylinder / boxer motored mid engine car ...of course we saw how that ended up where until the past year, they languished in the $50k -70 k range for many many years just throwing out a word of caution and a reminder that there are gazillions of manual tranny used sports cars out there, incl almost every Ferrari model before the early 2000s where the take rate of the F1 started climbing All this does right now is it turns what is arguably the more fun " click-clack" versions of " affordable " 360s ( and F430s ) suddenly into precious garage queens . The passing years and long term storage will result in expected reduced annual maintenance and rotting rubber bits and stale gummed up fluids blocking hoses everywhere...oh brother. These " regular " models that number in the thousands don't deserve this fate...leave that for the CS , Scuderia, 16M,Speciale type cars long term. OTOH , if this gated shifter " market mania " persists for a couple years , then when all the 458 owners start trading in the thousands of their used DCT only 458s on the market in another year as their 488s arrive , prices for nice F1 430s and 360s will be pushed down as expected, since there wont be the constant factory header replacement worry / aftermarket header CEL issues of the latter models
