"I am thinking of buying what you are thinking of selling under the only condition that we think about the same price."

"how much do you offer?" - "how much do you want?" " how much have you got?"
    Great way to start dealing...

where is the old fashion way of selling straight? As i always said, if there is no price and no commitment, there is no cars for sale. No bother to call.

How about requiring a "what do you think my car is worth?" poll in the "thinking of selling my car" posts???

I've decided to sell my 330 but have yet to post an ad for two reasons.
First, the car isn't quite ready for sale because as with all restorations, there are a few last minute glitches (the electric fuel pump at the moment) that have come up in the process of finishing it.
Second, and more germane to this post, it's very difficult for me to set a price on my car, as prices over the last year have ranged from $150K - $400K. Now, I'm not too concerned with getting every last dollar from such a sale but I'm also not interested in leaving $30K+ on the table either.
So how exactly is "an auction" not a legitimate "best offer" sale?
Why should I need to let an auction house take 20% of a sale to establish a value?
And finally, why should your opinion of what constitutes "a For Sale listing" be any more valid than anyone else's?
So far, all this thread has focused on is the for sale side of the process with no consideration of the number of truly serious "possible buyers" that one encounters as a seller. I guess that's not aggravating, right?

To me, not that anyone particularily cares, the "thinking of selling" is supposed to make the car more valuable. It isn't for sale for sure yet, but I might allow it to be sold.

This is like the "for sale" ads that read like an obituary:

It is with deep regret that I must sell my car.

It is with deep sorry that I have to part with one of my cars.

As much as it pains me to do this.....if I find the right buyer.....looking for someone who will take care of it and cherish it.....

The truth: for the right price I'll sell it to anyone and hop, skip, and jump all the way to the bank!

My two cents, with depreciation maybe one cent.

The rub, dammed if you do dammed if you don't.

At the end of June when my son is out of school I'am going to sell my 94TR, red, black interior, 21k miles. One of the 38 ABS brake cars.
    $125k obo.
Response's WTF way to cheap IMO, that's a give away, wish I had the cash I'll buy two! Raise the price your hurting our values.

    Or
399k WTF your out of your mind, GLWS. Wow TR's are finally going up, sets a new bar.

If 512M's are north of 500k bargain at 399k

    Dammed either way.

Selling price is no ones business , posting a price just makes someone feel good about there similar car. If someone wants my car they know what its worth, whatever someone is willing to pay at that given moment is all it's worth.

So I agree with a previous comment, best offer....sounds good because it's private.
so $175 best offer. Give it 90 day's and best offer wins if any offers at all. No offers, just keep the car. simple.

Private treaty. Perfect. Offers are private, deals are private. Two thumbs up.

Why all the "thinking about" threads? Economy is getting overheated and some people are calling the top of the market, or seeing a spike/bubble and trying to take advantage of it. Prediction: 18 months, +/- 6, we will be knee deep in recession.
