Many have noticed that in the USA you are also quite adept at electing complete idiots as presidents. Don't they represent the American people?

I completely agree with that. Britain and France have carved the Middle East after WWI, like they did Africa in the 19th century.
To satisfy their imperialist claims, both the Brits and the French drew arbitrary borders, split nations, threw together people of different cultures, installed puppet regimes, encouraged collaboration, and exploited the resources.
Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Kuwait, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, and Oman are their creations, and do not reflect the Arab nation at all.
Most, if not all, the problems of the Middle East come from that.
This is a terrible indictment against Britain and France, and a shameful legacy of their colonial past.

I guess that unfortunatly no one (or almost no one ) can be very proud of theyr own governments....justice and the "right thing to do" as long been changed by trading, favours an economical and military relationships.....The US are to blame for many things in the past, and even in the present, but Europe also as a big part in all of this...and the Arab nations are no saints either....truth is we tend to elect imbecils and corrupts as leaders, and if you elect ****ty people, you have a ****ty policy!...I'm just happy my small country as no influence in foreign important matters because given the imbecils currently on power it would probably be the end of the world!!!
well, we survived G.w bush...twice!! perhaps it won't get much worse....

You are right. I must say that I deplore that my country, Britain, had such a negative influence in the way the world was shaped in the last few centuries.
Sometimes I wish I was born in a neutral country like Switzerland, or Sweden, with no colonial past, and no international ambition.
