I'm enjoying a nice Fremont Interurban IPA tonight. Man I tell you I love hoppy beers. In fact I love 'em so much I coined a phrase and am printing some t-shirts....

You're fired, that's not beer. But at least you labeled it correctly. ;)

I had a couple local brews on tap tonight, nothing special but the best was 7 Seas Ballz Deep. Tasty stuff.

Yes, good but inconsistent, mostly due to improper handling during its passage from the old country (as with most imports). My favorite pilsners are Dutch beers... but only in Holland (NL, not MI). :)

Anybody a fan of Kölsch style beers? I really enjoy the bready taste of this style, especially during winter. I've found that I don't enjoy the American craft attempts as much as the imported European. I had a fantastic craft in Utah that was local...wish I could remember the name. If anybody has any recommendations, I'd appreciate it. It doesn't seem to be a very popular style, but I love it.

On a personal note - I go through an IPA phase every few years, but have found that these phases get shorter and shorter every time. I'm a big fan of Tripels and Belgian style ales. Really enjoy Goose Island's Jaques and Matilda. Got spoiled with having it on draft at pubs when I lived in Chicago. Also really enjoy milk and oatmeal stouts and porters (not a fan of any of the chocolate stouts though - almost always too tart). I've been enjoying Nitro's milk stout lately - my wife loves it. I found Ninkasi's oatmeal stout when I lived in California to be one of the best values to be found.

One of my favorites is the Vanilla Bean Porter, which is a seasonal from Stone Brewery. I don't care for most of their beer and have been to their brewery a dozen times or so. I feel like they always miss the mark a tad on a lot of their beers.

To the person with a healthy sampling of Piny the Elder, I'm very jealous - Ive tried Elder and Younger and much prefer the Elder despite Younger's more illusive prestige.

One of my favorite threads on FChat. I don't consider myself a beer snob - I like most beer for different reasons. Even a Miller Lite on a hot day after cutting the grass is enjoyable. It was the first beer my dad and I shared as a kid.

Same here! First beer was a 50 cent tub of Schaefer (The one beer to have when you're having more than one!) Dad & I shared at a Mets game. Not the greatest beer in retrospect, but on a sunny day, with a hot dog, and a rare Mets win - we were kings! :)

    Two questions:

What's your opinion of Guinness Blonde Lager?

Will we ever be able to get Caffrey's in the U.S. again?

Jesus! We've got a couple places around me with 20+ and I think even one with more than 30 on tap. That's gotta be close to or over a hundred?? That must be what heaven looks like!! :)

    Polish theme last few days.
The green one was sweet and minty! Never had a beer like it before except maybe hot beer with honey in Zakopane.

Karbach Staycation is not very good.
