If you read the notes on the listing you do have to be prepared for bent valves. Just why was the cam chain being attended to and then they bailed?

Kind of already too expensive @ $17K?

Without major parts. My guess, $15,000 for the motor. Plus another 10 for the mechanics. Plus plus. How about $35,000 to redo

Ouch indeed. I looked at that and thought "I hope everyone walked away from that crash..." I know nothing about BMW M1 values, but I have a hard time understanding how there is $125K worth of usable stuff there.

    Speaking of projects .....

I recently purchased a 1972 Indy America, 4.7 liter, 5-speed, power steering, euro version. The car is complete but needs a complete restoration. I have been debating if to tackle it myself or let someone else have "fun" with this project.

If anyone is looking for something to do during the next two years I may have the project for you :)

    Hi Ivan,
This is Victor at High Mountain Classics in Colorado. I left you a message, and we would be interested in working on this project with you (if you weren't kidding about the 'fun')! As I've told you, we expanded our shop from just pre-war to post-war cars too, as most here know I'm a Lambo/Maserati/Ferrari specialist/collector/technician. This is an Espada we did, in post # 3916 of the Espada thread:

    Thanks,

    Hi Victor,

What I meant is that I would consider selling the Indy "as is" and letting someone else restore the car. This is a very doable project but in my opinion will only make financial sense if the owner is willing to do some of the work himself.

    Hi Ivan,

Got it! Sorry I misunderstood, but it may be an interesting project anyway. Can you email me more details, such as the asking price, and any pictures to my private email which is vaholtorf at yahoo dot com?
    Thanks,
    Victor

What a shame to have let it go like that. Yes they are unique cars. I think I'd prefer that over the convertible. This is one for the scrap yard after any decent stuff is stripped.
