    my sister turns 65 this month and always wanted one of these. I thought she had forgotten. but I showed here one coming up for auction and damn she got excited. found one here in town like new. sister loves it. ppi this week. it will fit nice next to my Allante

    the same house. sis is an MD. keeps mom(100) and I(77) alive. both of us would have been dead 20 years ago from bad Drs. besides, I would never hear the end of this once I showed her the car

    That's one of the late 80s or 90s era cars it looks like. They used the same platform as the Chevy Monte Carlo of the time I think.

    Hello, correct. I worked there in the early 80s when it was still on a Studebaker frame and body with the square headlights (64 and up). I was on the design team of the new bumpers and convertible.

    for the info. Chevy. platform figures since the motor and transmission are Chevy. an interesting car to drive. feels small and nimble. this is titled 1987

    As a long time fan of these cars, especially the Loewy design, I must say I did not know this. Very interesting factoid!

    When I was a kid my dad had a 63 R2 (originally supercharged) that someone had taken the blower off of unfortunately. He sold it when I was about 15. I still think they are amazing looking cars.

    I guess THIS is the only Avanti thread we have???
    Where is Douglas Crall, Rifledriver's brother??

    I was driving back from a trip this weekend (with a Pininfarina Spyder on the trailer!) when I spotted an Avanti, in the weeds, for sale.

    Douglas owns several (coupes) IIRC.

    This one appears to fibreglass??

    Missing the wheels, but they said the motor (and interior) is still there.
    It looks like that white one, or would, after tens of thousands of dollars!

    Congrats, Mitchell...that's a beautiful convertible....

    That car is beautiful - I believe the Loewy design has aged well.
