As an amused bystander I find it hilarious that a group can get so emotive over people posting in a forum like this. For sure it is a passionate topic but fwiw its simply not important and an absolute load of tosh to compare drivers from different teams let alone different era's. How do you compare Fangio/ Senna or JYS/Hambone? they had different tracks, cars, tires, safety and on and on. And yet some posters keep saying Hamilton could beat x driver and then get all upset when the ridiculous nature of these claims is shown. Its not dissimilar to a poster that took over the P1 vs Laf vs 918 thread and kept coming up with pointless and meaningless statistics to try and prove that he was right and everyone else was wrong. All that can really be proven in life is personal taste(s)........ And all the arguing over the minutae of anything quickly becomes very childish. And fwiw my statistics will always beat yours. Also by the end of the year Hambone will be married to Kendall Jenner and will have a reality show about him opening a line of shops selling his own aftershave and his new HHH (Hamilton Hip Hop) CD. Kenis (Kewis?) will have to give up Formula one because Mercedes - Benz will not be able to build an F1 car that will carry half a ton of bling..... And run on 24 inch rims and warm beer. Although having said all of that I note that he now lives in Monaco so maybe I should take the p..s out of the monaqesque?
"Its not life or death. It's more important than that." [Bill Shankley] Helluva thread we got going here! Cheers, Ian PS - Agree that it's been agreed that cross-era comparisons are worthless. But I'd still take Jimmy and/or Ayrton and/or Gilles & Michael over the others.

I need some Hammy shades ...[/QUOTE] For the price of thoses you can buy yourself some nice vacations in Algarve for a week.....and you won't look as a blind man...
Hammy as in Lewis or Hammy as in pig? As they say; Its obvious that the good lord has a sense of humor. Just look at whom he blesses with great talent.
Subtle digs at me aside... If people did not react to my posts the way they do there wouldn't be a problem. You only have to glance at the race thread (now locked) to see how many people tried trolling me when Hamilton lost. I am responsible for my own posts, not the state of this forum. You may think I am adverse to learning, but I am not. Whenever people provide valid points (like you have just done) I am happy to acknowledge them. That is all useful context and was interesting to read. What I don't like is when people make baseless statements that serve no purpose or put down others. Yes, I am only 24 so never had the luxury of watching many races. I am doing my best to learn here.
Yeah right...the penultimate post before the Monaco thread was locked was one of your gems : "Just want him to put more effort into his spelling." Please remind me, exactly who the hell are you to demand that a non native member should improve on their language skills on this forum. You are definitely not arrogant........etc etc etc. Best, Sammy
I think arguments cross era about who had the greatest talent is silly, as a lot of talent died from mechanical failure. Guys who never won a championship, but a tire slipped off the rim before they hit the big time, and they met their death in the trees.
This thread is giving the offender/s too much credit. Don't shine too much light on the cockroach, he will run. In the end giving him/them attn is what is desired by such people/persons.
Oh gawd!..... Wrong again I'm afraid. The "state of the forum" is exactly what we're trying to discuss here. And, I'm sorry to say it again, but the signal to noise ratio has fallen thru the floor since you came along. As Bas noted, we all generally got along pretty well - Some disagreements and the occasional heated exchange as it's a pretty emotional topic, but we'd at least respectfully beg to differ. You sure don't come across that way..... "Learning" is generally done by listening to those with more experience & knowledge of the subject. Damn, even I tried to explain a few facts way back prior to realizing I may as well be talking to a rock. Dear ol' Peter S has exhibited the patience of a saint in his responses, but you seem incapable of removing the "Hammy is the best ever" blinkers for even a moment. Most knowledgeable, long time, observers of the sport don't have Hammy in the top 10, let alone top 2 or 3 as you continue to claim - At least not yet - He's one of the best out there right now for sure, and that is also generally acknowledged by most here, be they fans or not. [Look at Pedro as an example - he doesn't like Fred at all (!), but he respects others opinions on the guy.] Now that is funny! Agreed. And despite his claim to the contrary, I think the level of "ha ha's" at Hammy's misfortune was very much toned down by the desire of most to not "poke the snake". In fact, I just read back thru the race thread and the vast majority of posts, from both LH fans and others, were "damn, he must be gutted", "a shame for him" etc. Very, very little gloating at his misfortune. As for him "sulking", I think his absence from the team pix afterwards pretty much confirms that...... Sure, he must have been upset - Anyone with a pulse would have been. But, as many have said, "that's racing". Put a brave face on it and move on to the next race. Don't slink off with your tail between your legs. Cheers, Ian
from a team perspective, it's pretty disrespectful to Nico and his side of the garage too, never mind the whole team in general. Poor sportsmanship.
