Here we go again!!! Can I reserve a couple of places on that ARK? I'm pretty good at shoveling ****.

Plus, we had the added benefit of a transformer blowing on our driveway this evening. No sparks or excitement, just plunging the entire block dark for 4 hours this evening! (Oncore just finished replacing it).

    Holy crap.

I have a basement. I've had water issues before, not uncommon. I had a friggin' FLOOD this morning from the 3" of rain we got last night. ENOUGH ALREADY!

Ok, not enough yet. When Travis is full, we can stop. :)

On my daily commute, I pass the 'wetlands' West of the GWB between 35 and 635. There's a creek just beside a warehouse that has banks 10-15 feet high. There's big pipe for the water to go through, probably 8-10 feet in diameter, with a road across it. When it rains a lot, sometimes the pipe will be underwater.

Today, the pipe was NOWHERE to be seen, the water was 20 feet out of the banks to both sides, and the water was running BACKWARDS, West to East, instead of the normal East to West. Whereever the water was going is higher than where it was coming from. Never seen THAT before.

    From elsewhere:

The NWS crunched some numbers for us. There has been enough rain across Texas during May to cover the entire state nearly 8 inches deep. That's over 35 trillion gallons!

Saw on news, enough water to provide for Cali's needs for a year and a half, but only about 25% of the amount needed to get it out of drought. Of course, that was before last night, so who the heck knows. Seems as if the worm may turn middle of next week here in the Metroplex. Hope so, and the rains move off to where they are needed in Panhandle and Colorado/Canadian River basins...T

We had an estimated eight inches of rain last night, which overflowed our five inch rain gauge here near Parker. We are fine, but three homes nearby have extensive flood damage.

I've got a creek behind my house. Thankfully it didn't flood the house, but the same can't be said about our barn. There was brush on the fence this morning, so that means about chest high water. It has flooded in the past, but never this bad.

Yikes. Y'all got a lot more rain down to the east and south than we did up here to the north and west of Dallas. Our neighbors estimated a bit more than two inches in our neck of the woods. Hope the waters recede quickly...T

NBC news said 35,000,000,000,000 gal have fallen on TX. I'm a bit dubious, but with lakes filling up, wfk. Drought ending, but in 4 month period?

True for those near the dry line and points east, less so out west and in the Panhandle. I don't recall seeing sustained rains like this in my dozen years here...T

News guy last night said we just lived through the wettest May on record, and the 3rd wettest month since the late 1800's. Gainesville got nearly 30" of rain. That explains why Texoma is bursting at the seams...

Finally getting some work done on our jobs, and got done with our wettest Byron Nelson Championship ever.

There is a video of a carp swimming in a bunker on the 5th green, they found a 2lb bass in the drainage swale on 14, and there was a case of beer spotted by one of the tv stations floating across 14 fairway. Woops.

Go away El Nino, welcome 90 degrees and sunshine !

I have been in the Dallas area 26 years and have never seen this much rain in such a short period. I feel as if it's been raining for two months. We have been lucky to have no flooding damage but I have landscaping that has died due to too much water. Looks like it might finally be over. I hope it moves west to CA. They need it.

no issues at all around the house, I think the small lake they built across the street has actually decreased the water we get in way back. Dove to northeast of us has been closed for water across road. I ran out of time yesterday when checking our boathouse in my boat, I was going to idle over there to see if I could actually get over Dove with the boat and take a few pictures fishing. :)

our biggest headache with all the rain has been the boat house. it is on poles and ours as longer poles than others around us, but with lake 26 feet over normal it still floated off the poles. all the boat houses were free floating and theoretically could float down the lake and go over the spillway. I had someone move ours about 400 yards to shallower ground tied off to trees and light poles. Will have to monitor it as lake starts to fall to keep moving out to deeper water, it will have to fall about 15 feet for us to get back to where it originally was and that could be a problem if other boat houses start sitting where we were. boat house has been twisted and some metal sheered off, but overall still in OK shape. Worse case we'll just take it apart and rebuild it. I went out yesterday and walkway broke in two, so had to tow piece back over and retie everything.

the other picture is the only boat ramp open on Grapevine that I know of, it is at Silver Lake Marina, that is top of the road that went down to their old boat ramp.

Holy crap! I know a lot of the lakes are overflowing. I hope the rain stops long enough for the lakes to lower. Our boat is at Lake Ray Hubbard and so far, so good. But they do have to keep adjusting the walkways for the lake level. It's gone up so much in the last two months and is now over capacity.

Landing at DFW went directly over Lake Grapevine--some marinas were half submerged. Toured it on Saturday--road across damn closed, but water clearly high (though not over the road at the Gaylord). Be interested to hear/see what it looks like after today.
