Why are 599 Prices falling so Low....and so quickly ?

My feeling on the 599 vs. 550..wow-so different--like asking how you would feel going from a 612 to an FF on technology and performance-they are not even in the same game. Cars are vastly different in every capacity--one items in common are that they are front engine v12's, have 2 seats, and start with a 5. Pretty much ends there.. I have owned 3 550's, 2 575's, and 2 599's(1st one in 07). Basically, the 550 has become a car to take out here and there-still love it but it provides a very different experience. The 550 does not have the same simple daily driver "if you want that" of the 599. The 599 still is a modern supercar and can go from gentle to uncontrollable beast--In fact the 550 is one of the last cars for me that I could drive at the limit with full confidence. The 599 is such an animal that is actually scares you--which is the right sensation and response. The 550 to me is great, it provides a time warp of sorts when driving it and has a very! different driving feedback. My 599 is set to an HGTE spec so it drives very tight with the hp increased to 650hp. To add perspective--I sold my FF and 458 but kept these--they both still feel very hand crafted and I actually enjoy the F1 in the 599 as there is so much HP and torque. Certainly not as smooth as the DCT but the punch in the face shifting of the F1 is great with a 599/599GTO.

The 599 requires less maintenance being a chain driven engine-both cars are still analog vs the new stuff(BTW which is really good-meaning the most daily usable Ferrari's ever). The 550 has some chronic items around fuel pumps, sticky parts, shock actuators, etc. that the 599's does not. All of them have generally the same level of electronics(exclude 6-speeds)-point here-they all have electric windows, seats, ecu's, dash's, F1 systems, lights, tps,..you get my point--unless you go back into the 70's and further you have electronics in your cars.

Do not know of that helps. My net, net is that the 599 is a full super car and a true value at current prices. Yet, a 550 is a great buy in the $60-70K range.

 

Well done! My experience has been that the dealers who actually had the car would not really deal on it. Maybe a little give.. but mostly "No" the price is the price. My 599 had a MSRP of $428K then was marked up a $100K over in early 2008. It was in recently for fluids and the dealership asked if I would sell it to them--they had no 599 nor had they for 6 months.

I did try and buy one from Miller Motorcars and by the time I actually went to make the move it was gone-ad was still up They are such amazing machines.

Do you have the original window sticker or a build sheet showing the options? That's the highest MSRP I've seen on a GTB!

 

The dealer was asking $185K, I paid $175K. I didn't really negotitate, as I said before, I did a lot of research and decided that the car that I wanted was in a fair price range. I then just told the dealer that I was making one offer, a firm price, they could accept or decline, I was happy to pay that price for this car, but I was not going to negotiate. If they didn't want to accept my offer, I had a second and third car lined up with price points that I thought were proper for those cars.

I know that other people have different styles of buying cars, but I try to keep it simple and un-dramatic. I want the drama to take place behind the wheel and at the exhaust pipes.

Of the 50+ cars for sell are there any quality cars for less than$130k?

one would think that with such high supply it would drive prices down

Late 07 cars had the ability (software wise) to be upgraded (if not mistaken)..

To answer your last question - YES!!! Hands down.. But that's just my opinion. I'd say it handles better without question, the seats are very comfortable, the power is increased significantly and best of all NO BELTS to worry about!

 

The one in San Antonio might have been higher than that...huge amounts spent on the interior....
