Always curious about the presentation of cars like this. This is a valuable car, in very good rare spec, (no bumpers or skirts and absence of big us side markers) and yet the consigner doesn't spent the $1k it would cost to fix the cam covers. Simple to do and yet not doing it hurts the overall presentation, Things like this make you wonder.
True in general respect, but perhaps not in this particular case. I also start to wonder, if a condition "1" car stands on shiny tires, but the production date shows 2005 or even prior to that. Save the few bucks for a new set of tires? Where else has the owner saved money? I do not like the cam covers either. But maybe someone else does, the owner obviously. Since this is a cosmetic issue (or rather an issue of taste), this would not make me wonder in otherwise complete absence of indications of technical negligence
Considering the condition of the rest of the car I don't think it's due to neglect either but rather a choice that was made. I know a few people who have become frustrated with the wrinkle finish not holding up well on Lamborghini V12s myself included. The wrinkle paint on mine was always a bit weak. It was freshly done either by the PO or the shop he utilized when they rebuilt cams, installed new followers and set the clearances just before I bought the car. My bet is that it was the shop. A few years later it suddenly went completely south. I attribute that to an improper job as I have had very good luck with red and black wrinkle paint on other cars when I applied it correctly. So maybe this person just got tired of the early paint failure and difficult cleaning nature of wrinkle paint? When the cars become pieces of art that require slavish adherence to "authenticity" these sort of discussions are the result. It's all about the money now and THAT is no guarantee of a proper mechanical restoration or a full sorting either. I have another car that will undoubtedly receive this sort of questioning when it's sold because I changed all the factory original stuff that didn't work and looked like hell as soon as you actually used the car. I've owned that car a very long time, almost since new, and I've also used it well and had a great time doing so. Had I not done all of the work I did it would neither have run reliably for those miles or looked very good either. I cannot and will not return everything to strict stock configuration on that car. It's too much work and money to do so and the result would be a non-op piece of automotive history which I don't want. Let the next "collector" knock himself out as he probably won't drive it anyway. In this case the task is relatively easy to change and since it's probably all about the money for the owner at this point I agree, just change them.
I will be at the Indy Brickyard Vintage races also, as our shop is providing track support for a Bugatti, Delahaye, Elva, and some other cars. So it would be nice to meet a fellow Lambo nut. Feel free to give me a call while you are there. My cell number is (970) 581-XXXX

All six of the Lambo's offered by Roy Cats fail to sell at Mecum Seattle: https://www.mecum.com/collection.cfm?auctionid=WA0615&groupid=10231 to be fair not a very good venue for exotic cars.
That was the worse sellers auction I've seen for donkey's years. Was watching some of the cars cross the block and sell or go to ridicolous low no sale bids. Lamborghini cars had no chance in selling for a decent price.
