Exactly because I was the only one who got burnt right? Are you seriously that godddamn stupid or have been working at it for a while? I bet you lost your collective ass as well but don't wana speak up. I however recovered quite nicely and made the point for others not to be suckered in. I bet you own like 2 TR that you've currently made good money as of now so of course you'd LOVE nothing more than for people who see through the bull$hit to hush up. Typical

Dude...seriously, take it down a notch. You can express your opinion without the crass language.

I don't care if you have an Enzo in the garage, you won't get far on this forum with this kind of attitude.

There were a lot more people that didn't get burnt. You volunteered which side of the camp you were on. You started this thread and I was pointing out your lack of authority and credibility. You just did it for me.

Redliner, some insight for you. When you say, "Man these guys are trying huh?", what exactly is your point? They are in the business of selling cars or did you forget that fact? That is what they do. In fact, IMHO, the dealer, IAG is pretty good at predicting what will be a hot collectable...they are not dummies. A few years back, they loaded up on many beautiful MB 280 SE 3.5 coupes and converts just as they exploded in value. They did the same with the TR. They are free to ask what they want...the BUYER sets the price as nothing happens until there is cash in the bank account of the seller.

Next, to buy 6 properties in LV (more than likely) was rolling the dice and you knew it. It was income property so if it cash flowed from day 1, it should not have mattered if it dropped. You recovered...good for you. If you truly believe what you are saying, you, TODAY, would sell both your 328 and 360 as they too will drop in value. If the current $150,000 TR goes to $75,000, your 328 will hit $32K and the 360 will hit $50-60k.

As turbopanzer states and I agree completely, the TR ( any version) is pure art in motion. For years considered ugly and absurd looking, the TR has come around and reintroduced itself to the world. Nothing as outrageous like it on the road outside of a Countach. You can park my $38,000 TR beast next to a brand new $250,000 matte 458 ...which do you think will get more attention? I know....as I have stood and watched. You can't walk into a F-dealer and see a F512M or even just it's lowly flying mirror "red-headed" step child, the Testarossa.

In short, stop worrying about the price...drive it and enjoy it. If you are in it for the $$$, buy Fiat stock today and get the Ferrari spin-off. You can still say " I am a Ferrari owner".

This is really interesting. A lot of great art through the eras was considered ugly and/or absurd immediately after its creation. Even the impressionists; then Duchamp; Picasso; Warhol; Bridget Riley and Jeff Koons. Our cars have this element of outrageous artistry. As mechanical tools, they are flawed. Ask an art lover who knows nothing about cars to judge, and they might choose a TR, an early 70s 911, a Gullwing. As collectibles. Without knowing they are.

I don't think they would choose a 288 GTO or a 964RS, though many of us would, because that is the mechanical superlative. Different collectible. Maybe TR/M is both.

Art goes out of style too, ask an old masters or Persian carpet dealer...25 years ago a CEO office would have both. Imagine that now.

It has happened several times with Ferraris... First big bubble... Late 80s-90... All ferraris up.. 308s over 100k .. Even 86 mondials at $150k... Then crash down to 30k for 308s and mondials.... The world economy didnt crash with them... The prices were just over inflated.. It happens.

QE in the 90's or in 2008? I was only a kid in 90's but I don't think there was an issue.. The ferrari market just tanked, from what I understand Japanese were buying up a lot of as were Europeans..

I hope your car continues to increase in value.. I just don't see Ferraris after the early 70's as a great investment.. I do not believe a 90 testarossa will ever command the same price as say a 275 gtb.. They just made too many.

Enjoy your ride, I love Testarossas they are great cars!! I have been lucky to drive a few of them.

91-92 recession. .."hands off" policy from the fed. 2008 QE.

...which I believe will be used in future recessions as a "prime the pump" tool. Saving money in CD' s or cash just because antiquated.

Got it.. but I believe they started to tank a bit before 91... And they didn't recover for years. I'm not a doomsayer but when prices go up to the point that sales stall the prices usually come down pretty quick because people get nervous that they are holding something that is depreciating.

Most of us on here own our cars without too much regard for that I would hope. I use mine as much as I can and I can careless about how much it's worth until the time I sell it.

I look at it like this, I buy an 7series and drive it off the lot it loses 20k as soon as i leave... so enjoy!! Drive your Ferrari as much as you can and don't worry about the values when and for some of us, if you ever sell!!

Well said! I drive both my Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster (which has gone up through the roof) and my 91 Testarossa as absolute daily drivers.
I always thought the drop in Ferrari values in the early 90's was directly related to the recession. It's usually the upper end that sees the slow down coming. Business owners buying these cars would see a slight slow down in their own companies and adjust their purchasing accordingly.

My favorite is always. ..."oh man, these cars ( insert car here ) aren't worth anything...nobody wants them...so slow, so dated..."

    Followed by...

"Oh man...I can't believe this.....I should have bought two back then"

Lol .. We would all wish that ... We would be buying them up like crazy!! 80% no, 40-50% yes... They go up and down guys, that's how it works. Not saying your cars are worth any less to you as nice rides.. Just prices of these things go up and down, it's not if its when. Will a 250 gt of any sort ever be $100k again, probably not..A few of you on here are very testy on this price going down issue... Just enjoy the car and relax, everyone can have an opinion
