Hi "SomewhereSouth" welcome to the forum, I'm guessing you are from the UK?

Here's an early RHD Testarossa for you. Not dirt cheap but there again I remember when Countach's reached that level not so long ago, thinking "they're never worth that" - and now look at them!

I think some of the comments here are out of line. To go after someone and say that what they profited from their TR is just a week's pay from some of the Fchatters here is ridiculous. I've said it here before and I'll say it again....we're all millionaires here...what separates us is the amount of 000's behind our name. Just leave the ego at the door...we're all Miami Vice ...I mean Testarossa enthusiasts here

I've met bradwilliams (Kurt) personally and he's an alright guy. But if the Testarossa and Dino were a stock, he's shorting it harder that Bill Ackman against Herbalife lol.

I will just respectfully disagree with him completely. There are many more factors than it's just greedy dealers and it's all going to crash.

All Ferraris and Lamborghinis are not going up....yeah yeah, you all know this. The newer ones are falling fast and continue to fall. It's the 80's! Why? They're now deemed collectibles and are now an asset class...like artwork.

We all know in this low rate environment, overvalued market, and "go nowhere" housing market, this is where cash is going. Like everything mentioned, they go up, down and may crash...NOTHING new here. To say It's going to crash!...it's going to crash! without any real analysis is baseless.

I see a confluence of factors that's contributing to and short term sustaining this rise.

One complaint that I've seen and experienced myself is that the newer F &L cars are well....not fun. Sure, they're fast, perfect, even have a connection for your Ipod but not fun. No stick shift and too many computers controlling every move is what I keep hearing. This seems to fuel the "nostalgia" for the older cars when you had to "work" to drive them.

To drive my Diablo, you have to feel the syncro "tap" in the gear lever before you shift and you better match the revs or you'll bog down the engine. Just trying to get it right and seamless is the fun and achievement.

The 80's are in right now. I hang with a younger crowd and you now see "80's night" at clubs, big hair and....tucked in dress shirts with belts. This I've seen with the designs of cars with angularity and side air intakes coming back. Look at even an older Gallardo, newer Aventador and even the newest 488 GTB. Tell me you don't see the Testarossa there? The Testarossa style now fits within the newer style elements and looks fresh again.

Lastly, it's artwork! I know someone said don't compare it to a Picasso but why not?

When I see a 512BBi, I think beautiful lines sooo classic Ferrari. But when I see a Testarossa I see such wonderful expression of extravagance. It's just something so beautiful to look at...like a modern sculpture.

I don't really drive my Testarossa at all anymore. I really prefer my Diablo as it's more brutal, visceral and in your face. But, when I walk past a piece of artwork in my home, I pass, look and it puts a smile on my face. Same thing in the garage. When I walk past the Testarossa, it just gives me pleasure to look at it.

It's the last of the non computer supercars! I've heard it over and over.....they'll be someone to repair the modules. Newest cars are more than modules. They're interfaced systems and when one goes out, the whole car won't work. With mechanical part and seals, you can fabricate these forever. Modules and circuit boards....not so much. I just see the newer stuff cars as disposable as my smartphone. Kinda sad really.

At the beginning of the year, I was excited to see the values going up and thought, yeah...I'll cash out. Well, in all honesty, the TR and Diablo are just too iconic to part with. Once you get over the new values, the car is still a keeper. I'm just going to add a 360 manual spyder to them.

One last thing I'll add is the heavy depreciation on the newest F & L cars. Gone are the days when you were " on the list", bought a Ferrari, drove it and sold it for more or directly traded it for a newer car. Most of us here are business owners and know the value of money. It's one thing to spend 100K + on a car but quite another to lose that in one year on a car. The older cars are just a more attractive financial option for holding cash.

The diablo roadster is the one to watch IMHO. It will be the next one to hit. That car is everything an exotic should be.

Great write up from Shamile, as usual! Thank you Shamile. Widely respected for clear insight on the cars, respected for hands on repair remedies with pictures. The thing that struck me was your comment on angularity and air vents. The style coming back, looking fresh again. That is exactly what brought me back to the Testarossa a few years back.

Being in Florida Shamile, try this out. I like boats and take a few boating/Yacht magazines. What I saw was the similarities in style and design flow of brand new yachts/boats in the 60 to 90 foot range and the 30 year old Testarossa. The roof lines, windows (not portholes) Take a look at the side profiles of many new, high tech yachts/boats in your area and see what you think.

I noticed this on the larger mangusta yachts while in France back in 2010. Looks almost identical to the rear quarter view of a testarossa where the buttress meets the rear bonnet sides. Talk about influence
