Bump!
Here's a couple of shots from this morning. Had about a dozen Ferrari's as well as Porsche's, a Corvette and a few BWM's. Maybe about 25 - 30 cars in total. We want to try this Route 66 location for another month (July 11th) and them make a decision on a permanent home to build this thing. This started as a Ferrari gathering and we don't want to lose sight if that. The plan for next month is for "VIP" parking for Ferrari's in a row and the other side for other exotic's that want to join us. (for the sake of argument, we will consider Porsche as an "exotic"). What we don't want to happen is for this to be a muscle car event. They have their own event at the end of the month. To keep this growing, let's keep promoting this to Ferrari owners and other exotics and see you all on July 11th! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
To emphasize the European exotic nature of the monthly gathering, it was suggested changing it from a "cars and coffee" to "Exotics and Espressos". Sets us apart somewhat though the name Espressos and Exotics in used in Vegas for a car group. Thanks toonfosi for the suggestion. Let the debate begin!
I like it. Also need to park the f cars in a corralled area for more exclusivity. After all, it is our E&E. Now if we can attract the other exotics to join us.. It's was a fun time, guys. That mimosa was good for my health.
Interesting points. How exclusive do you want Exotics and Espressos - Santa Clarita to be? It's a limited market area so if limited strictly to exotics, participation will be limited and maybe not enough to carry the event long term. On the other hand, you don't want to fill it with muscle cars as that will kill the "exotic" nature and you lose those cars over the long term. Personally, emphasis on the Exotics while allowing other high performance/limited production vehicles to participate. In my book that means providing the special section for the Ferrari's while having the Porsche's, BMW (M versions), Vipers, Audi (R8 only), etc. park on the other side and keeping the muscle cars out since they have their own events up there already on the last Sunday of the month.
IMO, If you want to have a successful gathering, have a start point for a cny drive ( 360tom has good routes) for an hour and end at a coffee/breakfast place. Exotics only ( counting Porsche GT3's ..) Tom, another friend and I did a great route around the lake in your area. This way we will have 10-15 cars showing up once a month for a fun driving experience. I really don't see the point of driving my car for 5 minutes and park and talk and drive back home.
We have had some "unofficial" drives for lunch afterwards and would need to keep it that way. FCA and FOG have insurance for these type of drives and ask everyone to sign waivers. As soon as someone starts organizing an official drive, liability comes into play. On a group gathering like this we need to keep drives unofficial. Was is Shakespeare that wrote "Kill all the lawyers"?
Bumping for this Saturday. Depending on how late the Glendale party goes (see other thread) I may not make it, but carry on without me if I don't.
I'm in Santa Clarita too. I think you can see my house from Route 66. But my car is in the driveway, the engine, gearbox, windhield, doors and other misc. parts are in the garage. But... I do have my Ferrari jacket I can wear. Can I bring the ML320 instead? Or maybe the classic '75 HD 350SX? It's the same year as the GT4 Dino...
Great gathering this morning with Porsche enthusiasts. A little spirited drive going home with the guys. Image Unavailable, Please Login
So what is the leaning of the group? Route 66 as a permanent home of Princessa Plaza (Via Princessa)? Is Route 66 getting away from the emphasis on Ferrari's? Is everyone ok with other brands showing up? We need to set a permanent home so new comers don't get confused and so we can build on the publicity and grow the group. FCA publishes in their calendar but we need to have the address.
While I liked the first location because it was a small group and easy to get to Route 66 does have the major advantage of having a shady place to sit, eat, and still see the cars. The Porsche people were all very cool.
I was the first one to get there in hopes that I could direct the traffic. Then the Porsche people showed up. Some cars were interesting, some not so much. Bunch of nice people. But just when I thought about organizing the lot, I told myself otherwise. It just was not that important to me. Let's have one more meet there. We can all show up to discuss the future and the location. Btw, I like route66's mimosas.
