Ferrari baby.. Look at the people when they start her up.. The one guy is stepping back like she is gonna bite.. The other old guy in the back walking away with his fingers in his ears.. Mr. Chairman, I will never debate you regarding anything classic Ferrari road car or formula one. I just think the McLaren is light years better than anything Ferrari has built in awhile... Not ever. I will always be a Tifosi, even if I can't relate to the new stuff out of maranello

If Enzo built the the "E" type, it would have had 12 cylinders...

 

some E-types had 12 cylinders
even it was 1971 the 1st 12 cylinder has been in an E-type

 

The most valuables are (only) 12 cilinders

 

not in the jag e-type world.

 

In the E type you have to go for the original flat floor 6 Cyl 3.8 engine to go for the more valuable, the V 12 didn't have more power nor the 4.2 engines

 

The Series 1 is more valuable, yes, I personally like the pre '73 V-12 far more. The V-12 does in fact have more power and is more comfortable. Mine will lay rubber all over the road and almost go sideways from a standing start. I still say, if Enzo built the "E", it would look like mine...a V-12.

Excuse me but.........if I want a history lesson on Lucas electric's, darkness and driving on the wrong side of the road I would have bought one of these things. Now....may we return to the failures of Magneta Marrelli and the failure of the Italian automobiles. Now Shamile....you were saying tall...blonde...built...and wlll cost a fortune......

Drove a 512tr around today for a bit. Cool car, but the current price does not reflect what you get in return. They feel old. And this car only had 15k miles. It's for sale if anybody is intersted at current values. Yellow with tan. You can wash the dust off it..lol.

 

A Treatise on the Importance of Smoke

Positive ground depends on proper circuit functioning, which is the transmission of negative ions by retention of the visible spectral manifestation known as "smoke". Smoke is the thing that makes electrical circuits work. We know this to be true because every time one lets the smoke out of an electrical circuit, it stops working. Starter motors were considered unsuitable for British motorcycles for some time largely because they consumed large quantities of
smoke, requiring very unsightly large wires.

It has been reported that Lucas electrical components are possibly more prone to electrical leakage than their Bosch, Japanese or American counterparts. Experts point out that this is because Lucas is British, and all things British leak. British engines leak oil, British shock absorbers, hydraulic forks and disk brake systems leak fluid, British tires leak air and British Intelligence leaks national defence secrets. Therefore, it follows that British electrical systems must leak smoke. Once again, the logic is clear and inescapable.

In conclusion, the basic concept of transmission of electrical energy in the form of smoke provides a logical explanation of the mysteries of electrical components - especially British units manufactured by Joseph Lucas, Ltd.

 

IMHO, the old school feel is part of what makes a Testarossa great in todays market. The three pedals, shifting vs flicking a paddle, muscling the steering wheel. It is the old Ferrari feel..after all, it is 30 year old design.

 

Maybe 30 years old but imho, the lines are timeless. It looks as good today as it did when it came out. Best example....take it out and park it away from a crowded area in a parking lot. It draws people like a magnet. Never a day goes by when I have someone in my driveway asking to take a picture of it. I don't see that happening with today's current cars.

As for the driving of one....I agree. Shifting, pedals and all that goes with it is much more enjoyable than paddles and stuff. A TR is a "driver's car".

 

Damn, you guys are making me rethink my decision to sell and buy a McLaren. I wonder if I will suffer seller's remorse now...
