I guess the silly comments were because you were listing such a spectacularly valuable and rare, highly collectible car with such a lazy ad. It just shouts 'scammer' or 'fraud'.

Most (all?) 1973 911 2.7 RS Porsches will be sent to premium auctions with full page color ads dedicated to every nut and bolt. Your ad hardly mentioned anything - I would expect more detail in an advert for a $200 Toyota.

Is this a real post? In another thread for a 930 for sale, you asked if it was a turbo yet in your profile it says you own a Kremer 935, which generally is reserved for the most hard core Porsche nuts who would know all of the answers to what you asked in both threads. In their sleep.

I owned a serious condition 1 1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 for several years and just sold it via RM Auctions Amelia sale in March. This car is close to mine in production, six cars away. No, I have never been to Indonesia and have never seen the car.

Just this weekend I talked with a person very involved in historical Porsches and he told me that presently about 50% more RS exist than ever built. Generally any person buying a RS should check the history for consistency. And request a factory "birth certificate" . Even more the case for a ST, of which just about 20 were built (I do not recall the correct number).

This is just a general remark and not in any way intended to suggest anything about the offered car.

I am not sure how this could be possible. Dr.Georg Konradsheim wrote the RS bible documenting every RS made, including their specs. They are highly tracked and each car's history is paramount. I could understand if you said that there are 50% more lightweights than were made, as lots of people tried to upgrade their Touring spec cars to Lightweights, many badly. Also, Georg told me that he will have an updated version of his book coming out with more in depth information on many cars.

Like others have said, no one buys an RS today without a lot of due diligence and it's not hard to research the cars.

Thanks for the information; just to clarify ; yes I asked in another 930 post if it is a 930 turbo because it looks like a turbo (having a whale tale and wide body ) in the initial photos but it was not shown the entire rear view of the car and the engine compartment that was why I asked to clarify. The owner later on posted more photos to clarify ; moreover back in those days some people liked to add a whale-tail and body kits to make it look like turbo, Yes I owned few Pcars (old and new) including a Kremer K2 street version and am racing in a 944 turbo. Thanks again for your clarification.

No one in their right mind would buy a clone thinking it was a real RS. We are talking about cars that are $600k to $1m. All of the real ones are known and tracked. When you buy one, you look up the VIN, see which series it was, check it for all of the RS specific parts (the specific parts depend on where the car fits in the production), look it up in the RS book, see where it was, who owned it, etc.

It's very possible for someone to see an RS clone on the road and think it could be real. It's something else entirely for someone to pay close to $1m for an RS only to find out later that it was a clone. That just doesn't happen.

That's the equivalent of saying that someone needs to be careful when buying a 250 GTO because there are way more GTO's in the world now than the 39 cars they produced. Yes, there are cars that might look like a GTO but there are still 39 GTOs and everyone buying a 250 GTO knows what they're buying.

Thanks, Michael. You and I have similar taste in cars. Your collection is pretty cool. I had to downsize to my core 4 sports cars this year and then I'll go on another acquisition spree and add some others that I'll see how I like. I think that I managed to nab the best so far, though.

I love the RS but if I buy another, it's a series 1. I loved my Countach but I would prefer an FI 4v car, so I will track down some of those. And hopefully I can make a 288 happen at some point. Then I have the complete core for a permanent collection.
