    Hi Charles,

You are absolutely right, one has to make room by disconnecting the steering shaft.
If you do not have to work on the valve clearance I suggest to only disconnect the front end of the shaft. To create extra space I took the harmonica rubber out of the firewall an took some metal with the diameter of the shaft out on the top left side (looking from the back to the front) and the tie the shaft up with a tie rap. If you limit the extra space to about half a shaft diameter it wil stay covered by the harmonica seal when finished.

If one has to do the valve clearance job too, I suggest to take the steering column out completely, costs a bit more time but does create the room to do a clean job. Watch out not to break the staulk-switches!: that will make it an expensive job!

    Success,

    Ciao,

    Bart

    Bart,

Thanks for you advice.. I just ended up needing to replace the half moons. the ones installed were very soft and one exploded/deformed. They were of very poor quality. replaced with MIE sourced version which were much firmer.

The photos were from another car all together.. but similar.

    Thanks
