Got a feeling they will have a Dino concept car at the Frankfurt Auto Show

Why ? Because they are launching a Ferrari IPO in October so the show needs
to be big for them hence F12 GTO is coming a year earlier than normal - My
prediction it will be the biggest show ever for Ferrari - Just saying :)

Maybe the Dino will be a return to the visually appealing style of Ferrari years past?

It's probably just me but I feel that Ferraris are supposed to be beautiful as opposed to looking aggressive. Leave that to Mercedes.

Problem is that a Dino will have to appeal to a broader audience. Subtle beauty wouldn't seem to be the way to go.

I think if they did it at a sub $200k price point to undercut the 911 by some margin they would be right on point.

That article is a bit amusing... The current / future competition for a GT3RS is the 458 speciale / 488... not sure how the Dino is going to be positioned as competition, unless it is priced at or below the RS (and then it becomes "buying the badge").

Article losing all credibility with their assessment of where it will stack up and that hideous rendering.

Yeah, what I was referring to has been the trend toward making cars look "angry" which, unfortunately, is a trend Ferrari has been following as well.

Good article: Why Cars Got Angry - WSJ

Apparently "menacing front ends may appeal to drivers threatened by oversized SUVs and intimidated by the dangers of the highway."

Anyway, it's just sad to see Ferrari following in the footsteps of...Hyundai.

I just want beautiful Ferraris back.

Could this be a way for Ferrari to bypass the US 10 000 car rule?

I have no doubts they can design a wonderful car at that prise range. Maybe use the Fiat facilities to built it or parts of it.

IF increased production is what Ferrari wants, and that's a big "IF", then build a car for $135 - $150,000, thereby taking on Porsche & Aston Martin head-to-head. F'Chatters alone will buy the 1st 2 years of production.

    Count me out.
I never bought the Cayman or Boxter either. Nor a Cayenne.... A 911 yes. If I spend serious money ( if I am allowed by eife to be truthful) I rather spend a bit more and get the real deal. I am not rich enough!

Autocar today mentions the following engine: Alfa Romeo has so far only confirmed one engine option - a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 with 503bhp developed by Ferrari....The V6 engine is also described as ‘specially developed for Alfa Romeo’ and is thought to be the same base unit that will power the rumoured ‘New Dino’.

Works for me! In fact, a new Dino w/ 400 HP would work for me.

What's the point in (re)creating a brand if you're making a model that could be branded Ferrari? If a Ferrari can carry something other than a V12 it really doesn't matter if its an eight or a six.
A Dino needs to be something different.

    To duck under federal regs?
I don't know that just changing the model name would suffice. Particularly if the cars are sold at the same dealerships.

IMO it's not to do with Fed regs more to do with brand exclusivity would dilute once they hit 10k or more in units

Would be very strange to have exact same engine between Alfa and Dino -Think they'll give the edge to Dino
