I plan to make a trip Montreal and I know nothing about it. So what's to see eat and do ? Which area is best to stay to accomplish all this ? THANKS
Who is going? Couple, kids, party animals, grandma? Tons of things to see and do, fill us in more for better suggestions!
Adventurous couple in our forties. 7/2-7/5. We are foodies. We like seeing the real city not just tourist things . This will be the first we've visited a place and didn't know someone to hangout with and show us around.
Oh Montreal! Great place for good with lots to do. I'll touch base on this later when I'm not wrapping up beakfast.
Definitely you should go visit old Montreal, plan for a full day there walking along the waterfront. If you're in town July 5th, come see the Fiat Breakout on Dante street in Little Italy between 10am-2pm. Several fchatters will be there with our cars, several terraces open, great event!
from what I have read Old Montreal and flagyl are the two areas that I should visit. any B&B guys could recommend in Old Montreal or plateau I may just hang around for the fiat break out now you guys make me want to drive my Ferrari . yes it is a great event I went to one once in my area It would be nice to meet up with some F chatters at the event for a while I'm in the area
Flagyl? I lived in Montreal for 10 years and never heard that name or part of town once... Are you sure you are writing this correctly?
Boulion Bilk for dinner is excellent. Olive + Gourmando for sandwiches at lunch (in old port) another local favourite. For ambiance, can't beat Brassiere T terrace during festival. Climb to top of Mont Royal (not as intimidating as it sounds if not outdoorsy), see 'tam tams' Sunday afternoon at the park on Park Ave for an interesting bohemian experience. There is currently a Rodin exhibit at Musee des beaux arts if it rains. Enjoy your time! Flagyl+Montreal don't mix (disulfram-like reaction)
If you have the time, Maison Boulud attached to the Ritz Carlton for a 5 start culinary experience...
Cool thanks ... The hike is a definite. I will try and hit most the eateries also It's a short stay but I have a feeling I will return I didn't realise my misspelling was actually a word..lol
It seems just about everything has been covered that I would have suggested! Notra Dame Basilica, Mont Royal, Old Montreal, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, and plenty more. In the downtown corridor we have lots of busy streets which the locals can help you with better. Food wise you have lots available to you. If you like smoked meat you have way to much to choose from. Enjoy the trip.
If you like zoo's you should look up the Biodome. And Shwartz's for smoked meat and black cherry colt cola, it's sort of a ritual "must do". Oh, and Club Super Sex, of course.
And yes, the montreal casino is pretty much in the middle of the F1 track, so go park there for free , have a drink, then go for a walk to find the famous start line.
I'll be there in red puma polo style shirt black puma ...For those who wish to say hello...I love to meet fellow F chatters
When you go to Old Montreal make sure to get some beaver tails! (It's like elephant ears but with Nutella and other stuff on it, very good) I am actually about to leave to Montreal from the U.S. in around 30 min haha. Edit: don't forget to get some poutine also!
