Hi All, Just registered on F-chat. I am based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and I believe I am a bit of a petrolhead. I own 2 aircooled Porsches but I am about to make a move into the F-world. Have an option to buy a 2000 Ferrari Modena F1 in the very rare color Verde Zeltweg. I have read all the usual stuff (buying guides, downloaded the user manual from ferraridatabase.com) and about to have a PPI done shortly. Just a few queries: 1. Tried via the factory and the Ferrari distributor but could not get a conclusive answer as to how many Verde Zeltweg 360's left the factory. It should really be a handfull. Any specific ideas here? 2. Provided that the car has a full Ferrari service record (original books/invoices), is accident free, has 30.000 (which equates to 19k miles), is in need of a belt change in November of this year what would be a "reasonable" price? 3. Anyone has the carbonio shift paddles installed? Obviously they are not OEM but seem to be quite handy from a driveability perspective. Feedback much appreciated!
Welcome but you'll never get that info - there isn't really certainty about the absolute numbers (although likely figures are in a thread called production numbers as well as regularly posted in this section) let alone any sort of break-down by color Pricing - you might want to ask in the Dutch section (lower down) for more specific current market info Paddles - most things have been asked before so its always worth a look and/or search ('Carbonio') in this section as I suspect this will be one with previous threads
First, congrats on the pending purchase. Second, and I don't mean this at all as an assault in any way. Everyone has their own taste.. But it's a rare color because nobody ordered their 360 in emerald green. You will buy this car and their should be IMHO a reduction in the price of the car when you buy it because of the color. When you sell this car it will be a harder sell because there are only a few people that will entertain owning their dream car in that color. Just please consider this when you price this car. When you say belt change.. as in its been how long since last changed? 3 years? You might be able to go to 5 if you prefer. If not, consult your region on FChat for belt pricing. Where I am its $2500 or so for the service. it may be more or less in your region. Good luck!
Vrsurgeon. Thx for your views. It is actually not emerald green but rather comparable to english racing green (almost black). I love that color and -no ofense- is not a run of the mill color. One of my porsches has almost the same color. It looks great and I don't buy cars as a future investment so frankly, i am not that interested in resale value. I can assure you it looks great in the flesh.
Now with pictures. Both of the verde zeltweg ferrari and my aircooled porsches Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do you like it? If you do then so will someone else so ignore what others think......Personally I would buy one in that colour if it was a good car. One sold in the UK last year with a matching green interior! In the UK with the current crazy market it would be £55k ish depending on condition but that is something I wouldn't go on!
I think it looks great, and generally a fan of nice looking non-standard colors. I put my money behind it too, although it did make me a bit nervous.
Thx for the positive feedback. Cant wait to add this baby to my collection, subject to a satisfactory PPI of course. Anyone else on f-chat with a similar color?
Hello. I have a 2002 Spider in Verde Zeltweg. I think the color looks great. Here are a couple pictures I can find on this computer. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The exterior is beautiful. I am not sure how I would like the non black dash top but that is a couple thousand to change so not a game changer in the long run. It's the whole experience of these cars that takes over once you actually get one. If you like the exterior color, even a little, you are all set to purchase if it is a good representation IMO. The car takes on a whole new place in your mind once you get familiar with it... so much so that the exterior color becomes less important IMHO. The color becomes just a nuance between the curves and defining features.
...And when I go on F-club events where there is a sea of red, what car(s) draw the most folks and conversations? The cars with the rarely seen colors.
Good luck dude. Looks like a nice car. I always dreamed of owning a red/blk ferrari (non-spider) and ended up with a silver rag top because it was a great example of the car. Just today I took it for a drive with my wife and with the top down and I was in cloud 9. All over again. You will enjoy it. Hope the PPI turns out ok.
finally...have an agreement with the seller on price. the 360 will go through a PPI inspection tomorrow. We have agreed that any technical issue that comes out of the PPI will be taken care of at cost of the seller. Hope it turns out ok tomorrow!
I can say every Ferrari I've seen with "unique" colors looks better in person than in pics. Could hit you on resale but if you're buying to drive and for you then go for it. I think it looks really good and can only imagine the color in person.
As mentioned it's a rare color to say the least, but get what you want and don't think twice about it. I had a friend with a 911 cabrio in same color. It looked almost black at night.
