Hello, Changing tires for the first time on a single lug '88 TR wheel. Question, what torque setting do I use to tigten the single lug? I can't seem to find it in the manual. Thanks
325 ft lbs but it's not all about torque. You must prep the threads beforehand. I've never done it before but have read a lot about it. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/154223-help-testarossa-wheel-fell-off-how-can-i-fasten-back-temporarily-2.html http://ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/323038-scary-single-nut-testarossa.html There are tons of posts about this. I've also read that Ferrari have an updated but unpublished procedure. Maybe someone here can confirm and share that.
This is what I do every time..... Clean the bevel on the wheel nut itself Clean the bevel on the axle shaft Clean the bevel on the wheel. Apply a LITTLE copper slip grease to all bevels Fit the wheel and tighten with the large spanner (use a thin cloth to protect the chrome) giving the spanner one good knock with the lead hammer. Drop the car and torque the bolt to 320ft/lb. HTH Phil
In my opinion, cleanliness of the bevels and correct torque setting are the most important. The lead hammer and spanner is a good "get you home" when you have had trouble out on a ride... HTH P
