No chassis drawings yet. Just working off rough tape measurements so far.

As for the shifter location, it is requiring a bunch of OEM parts to make up a special trans.
Mustang V8 World Class T5 body and internals.
85-90 V8 input shaft (works with the 4 cylinder bellhousing)
Chevy S10 tail shaft housing (puts the shifter right up next to the trans body)

I'm not sure where to start either, but I just jump in. I guess if I thought it out too much I would quit before I start. I just learn as I go.

PM me if you ever want to stop by and see it. Not much to look at right now though.

355 motors are still pretty expensive, probably around $10K for a decent one.
348 motors go for about $7500

I got mine for $4000 on Ebay about 10 years ago

thats not THAT much more than a not-so-old LS2 or somrthing. Certainly more interesting!

you have it at a shop or something or is this going to be a garage build?

I love how the creativity of the project goes as deep as the valve guides, so far. This is looking cool!

Surely you are going to move that engine as far back as possible for handling balance?

If it were me I would have been looking at a transaxle from something like a mercedes MB140D van, flipped over ala VW beetle to keep the Lancia Vibe..

I don't see how that would fit the engine bay.

That's a bit negative. But from experience, it's also realistic.

Regardless, you have to admire a guy who successfully mated up a 348 engine to a T5 transmission. I do hope he gets the clutch, flywheel, throw-out bearing and so on to work as well.

It's so cool. It, or a 355 version, would be great in, say, a Factory Five Cobra frame with a 375 body like s/n 0384. That may be my retirement project...

    Matt
