A little harsh. The 599 GTO happens to be an exceptional car too made in limited numbers. It is more complex. Greed is without passion other than money. People like Gordon Gekko wouldn't waste their time on silly things like a 599 GTO :)

And FWIW I also don't give a ****, I wouldn't sell my beloved car to someone who wasn't as mad as me about her.

Agree 100% ! Just came back from a 40+ mile morning jaunt and there is just nothing else that sounds like her. When guys driving in a 918 and CGT give you the thumbs up you know your driving something very special. She is so loud downshifting that I need to take car not to scare people off of the road. Shock and awe !

Took her out to cars and coffee last weekends for they parked me between a yellow P1 and a white 918. The GTO actually got more attention than I thought it would between those two hypercars. I just can't get enough of the GTO. Photo credit goes to Greg from Flat 6 Photowerks.

Here, they are easily scared, they don't so much as move over as pull off the road and stop!

She looks great Chase. The 599 GTO has incredibly classic lines that many prefer over the more radical aesthetics of the "hyper cars" like the P1 and 918. Plus, not for nothing, the GTO sounds a whole lot more natural and vicious than the hybridized P1 and 918. I'd also say that there being no "GTO" F12 model (whatever it will be called it won't be a GTO) will make our 599 GTO models even more sought after and admired by many P1 and 918 type owners. My 2 cents.

I don't agree either. Each car Ferrari produces tends to have its own "X Factor". Especially their LE variants - for obvious reasons. I don't know how they do it, but that's the business they've perfected. And believe me it is a problem. Because deciding to sell one for another is a pain. Yeah, first world blah blah.

I have the 599 GTO and will be buying the F12 VS. Forget the value equation (I have never purchased any car because of its financial appeal) the answer on paper to do I need both is a big no. But I've had my 599 GTO from new and I will not be able to replace THAT car.

My first Ferrari was in 1999 and was a one year old 550 Maranello. The first owner specced it with a FHP which it didn't need but made it run on rails. In 2002 I was buying a 360 Spider and decided it was silly to have two Ferraris. The same dealer who btw is selling me a F12 VS told me back then, don't sell the 550. You love the way she drives and you will be calling me within 6 months asking me to find you another like her except I will not. Today my 550 remains with me, is in rude health and sits on top of the pile of its more powerful stablemates.

And that's my point. Over time it's really hard to let these cars go (illness, life changes unfortunately aside). They become part of your life and they each have an X Factor. Even my Mrs Camlet who was dreading our recent road trip to Italy in my Speciale said as we flew home to save time from Bologna "I really miss our lovely Speciale" (she came back on a truck - the car that is).

For Mrs C to be bitten by the magic proves each of these special cars has something unique. Something that gets under your skin. And with a gravitational pull equal to your average black hole.

Anyway I'm in NY now on business and meant to be preparing for a big business meeting today. And I'm bloody on FChat :D

Why so many? Because they are worth a lot more today than 6 months ago and people are looking to cash in. Simple as that.

Unfortunately there aren't many people like you and Camlet...there's a great many of just 'latest and greatest' or a simple lack of garage space. Market is at a high at the moment so some might think to cash out now, probably get an F12 VS in return and perhaps decide in 6 months or a year which one they prefer...if they miss the GTO they can either get one or swap the F12 VS for it if they feel they won't drive VS much more.

Pretend the F12 is the new limited edition Daytona (or whatever it's going to be called).
    Which one would you want?
    (PS my answer is both)

And to answer the question about so many for sale, I'm going to guess that there are GTO owners have only ever bought new cars and so have never actually made money on a car. The 599 GTO went up 50% in a month earlier this year (from approx. $500k to $750k) so I am guessing many feel compelled to take the money and run, however unquestionably fantastic the car is. There may also be some spooked by the new limited edition F12 but I think numbers will be so tight ultimately I don't think one will affect the other.

yes for sure there are many around, just on this forum and pistonheads alone there's good evidence of this and those are the ones that are ''out''.

But there's also a large marketshare of the people I mention...

Few GTOs out there for sale in the UK but some have been advertised for a long time so maybe more sellers than buyers ...
