Sorry about that yes Connecticut, thinking sometimes on F chat you can find the item you need very close by.
Also posting in your car section 348 or your regional area works.

This is a pretty fair price, especially considering apparently the pumpkin is included!

"Was removed from 348 with semi automatic transmission."

A 348 with a semi auto transmission? - Really?

You have to look past the stupid clueless crap when it comes to parts for these cars... They probably think its an F1! lol The only thing that really matters about this listing, is the picture!

I enquired about this transmission and what the pedal arrangement was in the 348 it was removed from and was told it had two pedals. Ive not heard of a Valeo 348 but thats not saying one or more don't exist. Very odd.

I'm suspecting it's actually from a Mondial with the valeo transmission and not a 348!

I know Gianni Agnelli commissioned a one off F40 valeo but a 348 Valeo? - I've never heard of any being made either!

I asked the same when this trans was listed last month. ;)

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355-sponsored-bradan/490658-wanted-ferrari-348-transmission-please-healp-brother-out.html

The Mondial t used two different cases and I suspect the Valeo was the later version (without the big round top mounts). The trans listed for sale on eBay is the early version.

Something definitely doesn't add up here!

The transmission for sale on ebay is described as coming from an '89 348 with a semi-automatic gearbox but Ferrari didn't start making the Valeo transmission available until '92, and that was only in the Mondial T, so it's pretty definite that the factory never made a production run two pedal 348 (Of course they did make a two pedal "348", but that one came with an Enzo power-plant behind the driver! ;) )

It's possible that someone converted an '89 348 to a Valeo transmission car by using a Mondial T Valeo model for parts, but as you say, it's more likely that the Valeo transmission would be the later type and the trans for sale is definitely the earlier type, so that would rule out it being a Valeo trans.

    Very strange!

Ya know how hot rodders can change the entire personality of a car. And sellers can change the entire representation of a car. I'll trust the hot rodders first.

If a rodder got hold of an early Valeo system from an old racing Lancia (group B) car, I guess it's possible (with the help of an electronics guru) to make the leap.

Note, without the "actuator" mounted on the actuator, no "Valeo" action can take place.

Alas, we need pictures - or not :)

    Cheers,

    Hank

Hank, looking at the two parts diagram images above, specifically the upper mount (or lack thereof in the second). Which case does your Mondial have?

Neither of those two examples, show a Valeo adaption. "The actuator resides on top of the transaxle, and moves the clutch via the tie rod". I see no actuator or tie rod here. BTW, the quote, is from the June 2012 issue of FORZA Magazine which featured Rachel, my Valeo equipped, 1992 Mondial t Cab. :):)

    Cheers,

    Hank

I see, pumpkin on the right and driveshaft flange on the left. Actuator on top.

    Thanks Hank!

BTW Hank, when do you plan on your next engine-out service? I'd love to put my eyeballs on that set-up. I'm overdue for a visit to my mother and sister in Oceanside as well.

As the Mondial T shares the same engine as the 348, could a complete Mondial Valeo gearbox system be fitted to a 348?, or does the Valeo gearbox arrangement require more room in the engine bay?

From the looks of this, the Valeo system appears to be a bolt-on to a Mondial t trans (same case as the 348). I would assume that there are differences between any Mondial t trans and the 348, specifically the gear ratios (GT / Blvd Cruiser and true sports car).
