Great pics guys. That dealership looked like motorhead heaven!!! Well done!
And then I got to lay eyes on Andy's setup. LOVE IT!!! The not only does he have ITBs, which sounds wonderful when he's on the throttle, but he's also running (fatbillybob will love this) a 150 shot of NOS, (or was it 170????) just in case he needs an extra "laugh"! Though trust me, the car is stupid quick without the NOS. Andy's engine is VERY responsive due to the much, Much, MUCH better breathing of the ITBs. Andy has done the 348 Brotherhood PROUD! The power that has been UNLEASED is truly amazing! He is easily making over 400+hp withOUT the NOS. He also is running a F355 gearbox, stand alone ECU, had a custom grind put on the stock cams, race brakes, race shocks and springs, plus the 360 challenge wheels. The internals of his engine are STOCK, though he did have a little bit of port work down the the heads, but the valves are the same. His 348 will lay the smack down on a 355, 360, and throw blows toe to toe with a 430, yes you read that correct a 4 3 0 ! Andy's car is NO JOKE!!! After having ridden in his 348 for nearly an hour I do not doubt it at all. It's also proves what I have been saying for YEARS!!! The 348 has so much untapped potential, it truly is a diamond in the rough. Boy oh boy did Andy polish his little diamond to one very impressive performing 348. The first time Andy stood on the throttle, and went through a couple of gears, I was laughing like a little kid on a roller coaster for the first time. He honest and truly "drives it like he stole it". Well done Andy, bravo sir, bravo! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From what I've been told a LaFerrari could not overtake him at the Top Gear track a few weeks ago. I'm going to try and persuade him to stick his car on a dyno!
While I was drooling over Andy's engine the rest of the guys started showing up. Oh I will bet he was squeezing the NOS that day! Yeah he has to get it dyno'd, N/A and on the bottle.
And more guys showing up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Most of the cars lined up waiting for a few more to arrive, and some pre-drive route instructions from Sy. We had over 20 cars on the drive, and a Harley. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great stuff! Love all the pics. ITB setup is bad ass. I see it seals to the engine cover. Is there an airbox of some sort or where does it draw from after that?
If you look you'll see Andy has the filters mounded under the engine cover. The engine is drawing in the air from the engine bay. He and I actually talked about how to get fresh air to the ITBs, and threw around some ideas.
Wow! Just wow. Ernie you should start a cable show traveling around the globe meeting different Fchat members and checking out their cars. Kinda like a Diners, Drive-In's and Dives for Ferrari's
I hopped into Andy's 348, and we were off for the drive through London to the Joe Macari show room. Great video by Anton of the cars leaving the meet point. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=509CuM3SgAY[/ame]
Nice vid. I didn't know Anton was hanging back to shoot that. Did he drive straight to Macari or did he catch up to us?
The amount of people taking pictures of the whole group driving was crazy. I thought it was hilarious, so I started taking pics of them taking pics of us. LOL! You would have thought it was a parade full of movie stars. These pics don't even do justice to the amount of cell phone cams that were out. It was really funny. Most of these pics I took from when Amir was giving me a ride back to the hotel in the Diablo. People went nuts for that car. Went straight there. If I had seen him filming i would have gone around again. Did you go to the Dorchester Hotel?
After about 45 minutes - 1hr driving around London we get to the Joe Macari service center. And man it was not a moment too soon. Image Unavailable, Please Login
A block before we pulled into the parking lot, we have a clear street. Andy lays into the throttle lays down rubber in 1st, shift to second a lays some more rubber, into 3rd and finally lets off the throttle, but the throttle is stuck OPEN!!! Andy pushes the clutch in, stabs the throttle, clutch out, and the engine is bouncing off the rev limited SCREEEMING at 8,600rpm. Clutch in again, stabs the throttle again, its stuck WIDE OPEN!!!! So Andy kills the engine quick like. He stabbing the throttle with the engine off, turns the key back on and WWWAAAAAAA-DAAA-DAAA-DAAA-DAAA-DAAA!!!!!! Bouncing off the rev limiter, The throttle is still stuck open!!!. Kills it again. The whole episode was about :02-:03 seconds long. Poor Andy thought he was gonna have to get the car flat bedded back home. Errrr, I don't think so. It wouldn't be a proper Stooge European Vacation if we didn't turn some wrenches. We are a a Ferrari service center = tools. I walk into the service center and see some mechanics working on an Enzo. After explaining the issue, I ask if we could borrow a 10mm, and a couple of screw drivers. They kindly lent us the tools. Gotta love Brit mechanics. I get back to the car tools in hand, then Andy and I dig in. We check the throttle cable, the ITB linkage, the throttle valves, look to see if anything is hanging up under. Nada, nothing. We are looking and looking, and can't find what is causing the throttle valves to stay open. Andy is fooling the the throttle linkage and I hear the pedal making a rather odd noise. I go into the floor board, remove the cover over the pedal, and the pedal isn't resting on the stop. The problem? A stupid little rock got under the pedal stop causing it to stay open. Rocks cleaned out, problem solved. A big thanks to the mechanics at Joe Mecari for lending us a the 10mm and couple of screw drivers!!! As I'm walking back in to return the tools, and thank the mechanics, I see an FXX. Then a one off F12 on a lift above a La Ferrari, with a V12 on an engine stand right next to it.
Here are some pics I took of all the cars the parked outside the service center.
