The 458 and I suppose the 488 too are huge cars. I would love a smaller Ferrari.

Since no one has posted any spy shots of what could be a new smaller Ferrari, I doubt very much that the "new Dino" will be announced on July 28. Assuming that the new car were to materialize, I think we'd be seeing all manner of camouflaged cars driving aroung Maranello for some time before the official announcement, whether a disguised Alfa 4C or a cobbled up 458 or California with a shorter wheelbase. Prior to your photo, if asked I would have sworn that the 512 was bigger than a 458. Yes, looking forward to a new Dino.

A new smaller Dino would be fantastic ... It would be nice if they could get a design with the beauty of the 246gt .. that would be a hit..

It will be nice if the new car pays some visual homage to the original but given the current laws and market forces it won't be the lighter, more nimble and cheaper Ferrari that the Dino was.

It's not inconceivable that it might be.
If we take the 4c as something of a starting point, it weighs in at between 400-500kg. less than the 458. Weight of larger engine, brakes, wheels, etc. for a new "Dino" could be offset to a substantial degree by using lighter technology in those areas where the Alfa can't because of cost considerations.
