Damnit Is! I recall checking it out one time at, IIRC, Brands. OK, they were on a tiny budget, but the thing looked positively agricultural compared to the others! Bless him, at least he tried. Wolff certainly "flattered to deceive" early on. Wonder what happened to dear ol' Walter? I don't claim to recall, but I suspect there may be even more ~2 season guys over the years. But those are a good start; Stefan was another decent jockey who never seemed to get the breaks. Andrea was quick, but had more balls than brains...... Cheers, Ian
He recently gave an interview about the International Warrant issued against him: "Walter Wolf was inducted into the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame in 1998. "In 2008, he was involved in the so-called Patria affair, a corruption scandal involving the Finnish company Patria. The Finnish broadcasting company YLE's investigative program MOT made claims that he was a mediator in the paying of bribes to Slovenian government officials, including Prime Minister Janez Jana. Both Wolf and Jana rejected all accusations as being untrue. Finnish police issued an arrest warrant against him, but so far he has not been apprehended." Wolf denies any involvement in this business. He is living happily and has several luxury cars. Apparently he was among the initial backers of Lamborghini, which I didn't know. Also, he has a new wife, many years younger than him ... Crafty devil !!!
"Fchat; the font of all knowledge!" Thanks for that. He's gotta be getting on now, surely? I guess a nubile young thing helps! Doesn't sound like he's about to be apprehended anytime soon either; I guess he's safely offshore somewhere. Cheers, Ian
One of the reasons I asked, Stebro was based in Montreal at the time, my second home.. First Canadian built car to enter and finish a Grand Prix. Imagine finishing seventh in your only Grand Prix? Well done Peter Broeker!
I think he limits his travels now and hides his whereabouts: you don't joke with an international warrant against you.
"Motorsport Magazine" has one of their regular "lunch with..." column with Walter Wolf a few months ago. Rgds
