Guys, On the one DIY project where I was successful today, I removed the small little gauge cluster by my left knee. My clock and oil temp gauges were in the wrong positions, so I swapped them out. While doing so, I noticed this little bulb socket on the underside of the gauge housing. My owners manual refers to this as an inspection lamp socket. So does this mean that back in the day there was a light on a cord that you could plug into this socket? If not for this purpose, what is this little socket for? If so, are they still available or do I need to spend the next 10 years searching for one online? Any guidance from the smart guys would be most appreciated. Best regards to all. That is the plug for the emergency light. And yes the lights are out there if you look around. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-Emergency-Light-Lamp-246-365-308-Mondial-OEM-/151024715007?hash=item2329c644ff&vxp=mtr
It is the plug for the emergency light which btw it's different plug than the cigarette one. A lot of lights that you see on line for sale do not have the correct male plug.
The correct male plug can be found at a BMW motorcycle parts supplier; http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=261686004822&globalID=EBAY-US
