    Steve,
It would be fun to watch Sparky make a few rounds the pattern with the Impatient Virgin.
Hope all is good at your end.

Things ok in Klamtucky Falls DJ. TR running great. Nice secure warm fuzzy feeling since Crall installed the Newman carrier assy. The removed one shown no cracks at all. Hell, I'd run it. Have fun.

After staring at that picture I figured out what you were doing. You have installed a stroke stretcher kit on that engine. From looking at that photo I figured that your engine has about a 12 inch stroke now. Don't let the competition see that!
Good to hear that you are still kicking around okay.

    Greetings from Cowtuckyton,

You must have had the "good" welder the day your diff went together.

I just can't take the chance.
Mine might be the last one welded at the end of shift on a Friday, (or the first one welded on a Monday).

Get your paint work squared away?

No on the paint. The only reply I got was on a body shop paint type that is booked very up. Need a group of small stuff done but in no big hurry. Rocker panels need some tlc. Hood has a ding and front bumper and eye lashes need a respray. No one here for sure. Perhaps take it to Sacramento. A few decent shops there. Hope you guys had a great time today.

Well, it had to do it! For once the weather guesser was correct and we had a low , wet, overcast afternoon at Paine and the only thing that "flew" was a couple of tanks and an 88mm flugerabwherkanonnen, or something like that. I haven't been a German for a long time. But, we had a very nice visit with Jim Gatrorarri and enjoyed the day tremendously. Nice display of aircraft for Spasso, Jim, and me to look at. Maybe next time Madam Low Pressure will be elsewhere. A good day anyway!

It was great to see Bob and Spasso again, and yeah, I musta brought the rainy weather with me. Ironically, on my way back to my hotel the sun came out! Maybe something did fly after we left, Bob?

Seeing the Sherman and T34 clanking around made the day interesting, as was seeing the MiG-29 as soon as we entered the gates. And that Filipino food was great for lunch.

I took some photos and I'll post them in a few days after I get back to Hotlanta.

Jim, I don't think that they flew yesterday as the weather kept getting unstable late in the day.
They could have flown today because the weather is beautiful...still spotted with high CU but plenty of blue sky. It would have been a good day. maybe next year.

I was checking the pattern at 3:00 and a little after and didn't see anything flying. The clouds were still chopped up and inconsistent. I think they just called it a day.

Here are some quick shots with my junky point-and-shoot. I'm sure Jim can follow with some good quality stuff.

For starters are the aircraft on the "hot" line, ready for flight.

    Top to bottom:
    B-25 and nose.
    F6F Hellcat
    F-86 Sabre
    Mig 15
P-47 Jug (One of my favorites)
    P-51
    Mitsubishi A6M Zero

    ( No Hurricane in sight)

Junky? Hardly. Modern point-and-shoots do fine for static objects with decent lighting, and I often use my little Canon in those situations. I only brought the SLR this time because I expected to shoot things flying around, which didn't happen much because of the weather. I see no need to duplicate your shots, so I'll post everything else.

I took a couple of shots while waiting for the admissions gate to open, including some interesting illustrations on the back of FHC's new second hangar, and a 737 for an airline I had never heard of, just after getting its temporary N-number. The "hot" line was still roped off when I got there, so I went inside first, where there was also a local high school demonstrating its competitive robots. I popped outside long enough to watch the local sheriff's helicopter landing, then headed into the second hangar.

Fittingly, they opened the show by firing off the German 88, and then demonstrated some military vehicles in their "tank arena". I don't recall ever actually having seen either vintage half-tracks or tanks in operation before. There were reenactors there as well, including a young chap in Soviet gear, though his AK-47 is, of course, a postwar weapon.

Sooner or later, a Boeing would make an appearance, but the only one this time was a Korean 747-8 that I managed to snap. The German half-tracks and the Sherman were later moved to near the "hot" line, though I'm not sure why.

And here are our friends, Bob Parks and his son, Spasso. I had wanted to take this outside, perhaps in front of the Boeing 247, but it was raining at the moment so we headed inside, and I thought the Jenny would be appropriate, even though it's a type that even pre-dates Bob!

One reason I wanted to make this trip was to get Bob to sign my copy of his book, which he did. If there is anyone reading this who doesn't already have a copy of Bob's book, shame on you! After all, to a large extent, it is we on AviatorChat who convinced him to write it, so the least we can do is to support him by buying the book. You can find it here: From a Crystal Set to High Speed Jets: Robert L Parks: 9781503105676: Amazon.com: Books.

    Great shots Jim.
    I missed the half-track! What a monster.
The 747 climbing out was great.
I wish we could have seen more flying, though, I am disappointed when I found out that there is a speed limit of 250 kts at the demo altitude.
I would love to see some of these birds firewalled, like a local Bearcat I saw here back in the 60's that made a flat-out pass and climb straight up until you couldn't see him anymore. .

All planes below 10,000ft can only fly at 250knots. Yes, speed limits even in the air.

After carefully studying all of the great pictures that Spasso and Jim took at Flight Fair i don't think that there could be any better. No crowds around them, perfectly staged, and clear as crystal. They look like builder's shots. That photo of Spasso in front of the JN-4 is nice but it would have been better if the old goat near him was removed. Who was that ?
