After 3 years of a nut and bolt restoration which cost more than the GDP of a small African nation, the car has finally arrived! I just got these pics from the shipper at JFK. I should have the car home tonight. Can't wait to drive the pants off it.

    Wow! Awesome & congratulations.

I'd be curious to learn more about how it was shipped overseas and how it was protected from damage.

Thanks everyone! Got it home, needed the manual to find the battery cut off switch (behind passenger seat), drove to the gas station as it was running on fumes and needed the manual again to figure out how to open either of the fuel caps (inside the car on the edge of the roof lining!) and then took it for a long drive. Wow what fun. This isn't a sports car, it's a sporty GT, it's a 40 year old gentleman who works out but wears a tailored suit. Engine very responsive and creamy smooth and great sounding. The cabin is littered with beautiful switches and dials (I have no idea what most of the switches do - need to read the manual again) and there is a great sense of occasion from being behind the wheel. The seats are comfortable and not very supportive and the driving position is good but quite high. It's hard not to feel pleased with yourself when you are cruising along in this car! The lines on the car are great and I think the design is iconic. It's one of those cars that when you see it sitting in the driveway you find yourself saying "Wow that's a DB5". I added a couple of removable/reversible features like AC and power steering because I really want to drive this car a lot! The AC was ice cold and wow did I appreciate it today. It's boiling here in New York today. I can't wait to drive it some more and I thrilled to have it in the garage after 3 years!

I bought the car in England and it was restored there. On the way back I decided to fly it back rather than ship it back in a container by sea. It's a couple of thousand more expensive but at least you only have to worry for a day! By sea your car might sit on the dock for a week baking in the container in the sun, then more sun and salt on the way over if you are on the top deck then another week baking on the dock this end. With these temperatures I was cringing at the thought of the leather roasting.
Actually when you fly the car I think there is a greater chance of damage as the car is just on that tray.
