I think Acura lost their way when they abandoned the 2006 prototype theme (shades of LaFerrari) during the financial crisis. That car would have been worth the wait IMHO.

IMO We have to hold judgement on the NSX until the final Horsepower numbers are disclosed

Plus there are no direct comparisons to the NSX unless there's an rear mid engine turbo 6
Hybrid all wheel drive that I don't know about.People want different things and this is exactly that

I had 3 of the previous gen and look forward to picking up a 2017 model

You are one of the faithful and may buy. There have been so many false starts that I am actually tired of hearing about the new NSX. Almost as bad as the mid-engine Corvette.

No final production statistics that I know of and 2016 cars from other manufacturer are being DELIVERED.

I agree. HSV race car is epic.

It's like the bastard love child of TVR Sagaris and Lexus LFA. How can one not love that!

I figured WTH, go to Acura website and see what's up. As of right now, NSX is still a "Future Vehicle" and unless I missed it, 3 of the most important numbers are missing:

    1. MSRP
    2. Horsepower
    3. Weight

I remain confused and definitely in wait and see mode

I've always loved the idea of Japanese reliability in an exotic. Problem is, I've never driven a Japanese car that feels exotic. I was stunned both times I drove a NSX. It really felt like an Accord with better steering. I got back in my old 300zx turbo and enjoyed it more than the NSX. Never say never but I'd bet this car feels generic too.

Bingo. There are prototypes driving around, dealers talking down payments, and the most basic aspects of the car have not been revealed.

Oh, I agree. That mid engine vette unicorn has been beaten to death and it's obviously not going to happen until Bigfoot is bagged and tagged.

    1. MSRP starts around $150,000, but the option list is as long as Ferrari's, including exterior/interior carbon bits, CF brakes, contrast stitching, and optional exterior/interior colors etc. So a well optioned NSX will very well be north $200,000.

    2. Honda quotes their hybrid horsepower figure differently than most other manufactures. The 960 HP figure on the Laferrari is peak ICE power+ peak e motor power, but the ICE and e motor peak at different rpms (the e motor peaks earlier, then fall as the ICE peaks), so in real life the Laferrari doesn't have 960 HP, and same goes to the 918 and P1 as well. If Honda is using what the Ferrari, McLaren, and Porsche are doing, then the new NSX should be anywhere between 610-660 HP (ICE 500 HP), less than the 488, but more output than the new R8.

However, as I said, because Honda quotes hybrid HP figure as the most power output of ICE+e motor at same rpm, then we might see a figure around 580 HP.

    3. This is a headache for the development team. When the first revised power train mock up (transverse to longitude) released in early 2014, the NSX wasn't planed to do "long-range" travel on e power only, and the battery package was smaller than the final spec. However, after seeing the 918 and the positive reactions it's been received on its e drive, Honda decided to have more e range on the NSX. Therefore, they added a new battery pack in the central tunnel, combined with another battery pack that sits right behind the passenger cell and right below the fuel cell. That being said, the curb weight will likely be between 3,600 - 3,700 lbs.

NSX ordering will start in Sept with first delivery in January for the NA Market. The dealer mechanics got trained in June. The dealers who will sell it will have the showroom upgrade down soon.

Also Laguna Seca has been reserved privately from Aug 25-29, so expecting the media reviews coming out after that. Plus, the NSX has gone back to Nurburgring to set a lap time.

For those who are interested in the new NSX, you can go check out "THE TEMPLE OF VTEC" forum, NSX section. There are a lot of useful info.

What is it you wish to bet? I feel safe in a friendly wager on this topic. The GM and motortrend bozos have been harolding the arrival of the mid engine vette since the sixties.

The new one has boring styling, it better have blistering performance. The old one has great styling. I saw an early one yesterday, its still head turning 20 years later. Too bad it has boring performance.
