I don't get the negative comments. Car looks to be in awesome shape inside and out. I like the stripe also.

 

If I'm getting a Scud, I'll be OK with 20K-plus miles as long as it passes PPI.

 

Miles are not abuse, it's love when done properly.

As further proof of scud appreciation, when I got mine a little over 1.5 years ago, the "agreed value" my insurance company placed on the car was just over $200k. I just called them this week about something else and, before I got off the phone, I asked them what the agreed value is now. They said $250k. That's a big jump in less than 2 years.

 

I called on this car a few months ago. The car was originally put on the market for 196, There were no pics on their site just a description. I had a salesman email me pics. A few hours after I called the price was increased to 222 on their site. I sent an email and the same guy said they felt it was underpriced but would sell me the car for the 196. The next day I called and they had taken it down from the site and said the car was not for sale. Their explanation was the car had a rear main seal leak and needed wipers and this would take several weeks. I called and told the salesman that I wanted the car and he quoted me a price of 238. I reminded him we agreed on 196 but he refused to honor the deal. I bought my 458 and two days later it was back on their site at this price. Basically they just held the car until they thought they could get more money. It's their car and they can charge what they want but I'm not going to be their sucker. Honestly the provided me the worst customer service I have ever received in my life.

 

Wow, each time you ask for the price it rises another $10k. Interesting strategy!

I also found that Ferrari dealers don't exactly bend over backwards for their potential customers. I guess they know there's a strong market and don't feel the need to provide great customer service on the sales side. What surprised me the most is how unresponsive they were, even after I expressed interest a car. Maybe they get a lot of "tire kickers."

 

I don't know anything about this car, but just by looking at the pictures this yellow scud with 13,000 miles looks cheap at $175k no?

Good eye on the front splitter. Strange that it is gone. Maybe destroyed on a curb and never replaced?

 

Alot a people would like a SCUD to be in their garage. Not too many being sold, and it will get less and less. I was lucky to get mine 2 years ago.

I have no plans of selling. Its a dream everytime I drive it.

 

Somebody needs to watch out for yellow scuds with gray stripes. There is yellow scud with gray stripes that went underneath a school bus and was fixed. A lambo dealer tried to sell it to me and did not know it went under. I showed him the pics as it was in the internet.

+1. So glad I made the decision for a Scud over a 430 spider. I don't think I'll ever sell my Scud! At this point I could trade it straight up for a 458, but there's a reason I chose the Scud in the first place.

 

+2. So glad I traded my 430 spider for the 16M . I'll be keeping mine and the newer Ferrari's don't excite me.

Lol. They kept raising it after we agreed on a price. No worries though. I love my 458 and my local dealership treated me well.

 

I don't know if that's true. Miles matter less and less as time goes buy. Buyers don't care if a 50 year old Ferrari has over 40k miles.

 

What's your definition of "big miles"? I know a Ferrari owner that can't stand having over 5K miles on his (which I think is ridiculous).

Swiss Scud market observation from today, nine months later:
The offer was never so small as today (actual 5 Scuds, one 16M and one Scud with a fire damage), the price range has been wider (range between the cheapest and the most expensive car) and has moved up significantly (cheapest one with CHF 168'500.-, the most expensive one with CHF 299'900.-, in the average the market moved up about approx. CHF 140k), the average mileage is stable (between 2'400km (at the same time the most expensive car) and 53'000km (not the cheapest one!)) and is always at about 20k kilometers.

From the Speciale are actual 6 cars in the market, the same number as the Scuderia (nine months ago there were twice as many Scuderia).

Crazy how quickly the market situation can change!

 

It seems like this is how the market moves. All of a sudden the market deems a car collectible, or soon-to-be-collectible, and it's like flipping a switch. This appears to have happened for the scud. Just glad I bought when I did.

 

Well I guess that depends on how you define value. Is value defined as the joy of ownership and driving or is it the money that you get when you sell it. If you love the car so much that you would never sell, the monetary value is meaningless. If you're always looking for the latest and greatest, then you don't get attached to the car anyways so it's only the money that matters.

 

It's about value and driving excitement. The Scud has that in spades and is still undervalued compared to a Speciale. The prices of these cars have crept up to what was previously super car territory and is out of range for most enthusiasts. The scud had fallen to silly levels (affordable) but is now catching up as the market is speaking. It is just the normal Ferrari cycle for limited edition models occurring:
1. Car introduced and sells for list or over.
2. Car holds value through selling cycle and begins to drop slightly towards the end of selling cycle.
3. New car introduced and selling for $100k more than old car when new. Owners sell old cars to buy latest and greatest negatively affecting price/supply ratio.
4. Old car prices drop to levels that don't make sense when value, fun, price are compared to what is out there new as market struggles to absorb inventory in an extremely small market...as a pink sheet stock would .
5. Old car prices begin to creep up and the consensus changes from "old car" to "really cool car" and "they don't make em like that anymore".
To the best of my knowledge, this cycle has happened in a variety of variations to the CS, F40, 288 GTO, Scud and Enzo.
